I just bought a Bulgi Mak from a friend in Kentucky (thank you bill!) and i'm curious to know what I have here...I have looked for Makarov's with a triangle with a line through it surrounded by a circle and can't seem to find it anywhere...the serial # starts with AN (at least it looks like an n) issued 1976...any help would be appreciated,

Sounds like a Russian Military issue one, not a Bulgarian.

PS: This means it is worth considerably more than a Bulgie Mak.

Illuminate,
THATS IT!
The problem was I was looking under Bulgarian Markings because it has "Bulgaria" stamped on it, I had no idea it could be a Russian military.
As for shooting one, I had a Imez years ago that was stolen and have been waiting to get another one since then, haven't run into one in this great of shape since then...until now.
Thanks for all your help guys,

The triangle with vertical line through it is a Russian military makarov. The "Bulgaria" stamping means it is a Russian mismarked as Bulgarian. It is not particularly rare, and it is virtually the same gun as a Bulgarian. You may get a sucker to pay you lots extra for it, or better yet, keep and enjoy it.

I have one of those, and it is identical to my 100% military Bulgarians. good gun, but not anytrhing really different from the others.

...just my humble opinion.

Your Makarov was built at Ishevsk in the USSR. There should be a date right after the serial number. Most of the mis-marked Russians that I've seen were built in 1975. Congratulations on your find, you've got the "real" thing and it's worth a few bucks more than a plain Bulgarian.
