Weigh bullets and powder charge????

Is it important to weigh the bullets and the load of powder for more precision at 50 yards with a revolver for the competition? I weighed 10 loads of powder and for 2.8 of bulleye with a little dandy (r.c.b.s.) among the 10 loads there is an alternative from 2.7 to 2.9 so if I want to hit the x on target B-27 at this distance should I weigh? Thank.

Accuracy is the product of uniformity.

Weighing bullets is a waste of time.
Weighing powder probably is too.
Back when I was shooting NRA Bullseye, practice match loads were being cranked out by the ton on old Star progressives.
Didn't seem to hurt the top shooters any. The less then top shooters couldn't tell the differance anyway.

Which revolver and bullet do you use?
With this data, ballistic program may calculate bullet drop @ 50, and how it changes with powder and bullet weights.

Once again, not enough to matter.
A K-38 Masterpiece, or S&W Model 52, or National Match 1911, mounted in a Ransom rest, will put all its shots in the X-ring at 50 yards, shooting bulk reloads from a Star progressive.
With the varying powder charges from it.
There is very likely more accuracy difference between the six chambers in the cylinder then there is between the Little-Dandy thrown powder charges.

I used to have the center of a B-27 target that I shot with a K-38 with a score of 596 - 54 X, using that load in a PPC match, back when I was in my prime. None of the bullets or powder charges were weighed, and the loads were done on an old C-H in-line press.
You don't need to weigh those charges or bullets.
By the way, I lost that target, along with just about everything else I owned in a divorce.........
Hope this helps.

Calculation of the above 2.8 charge with the used pistol, powder, and bullet gives muzzle speed of 577fps. It is light charge. The speed varies by 15 fps per .1 grain of powder around the charge.
Bullet drop of the used bullet at 50 yds for the charge changes by .045" per fps of muzzle speed. This results in 1.4" spread in the drop @ 50 when powder is within 2.7..2.9 grain range.
I have sent detailed results with links to graphs in PM.

Sorry, Fred, I hope you got to keep the revolver.

armoredman,
My guns, and a pile of bills, was all I got to keep. She got everything else, including the house..... That was 24 years ago, and will never be repeated........ Wish I still had the target, though. That was the best match I ever shot.

ReloaderFred, I got to keep the cat that was her cat but didn't like her and the cat liked me which made her mad so the moral of this story is if your dog or cat likes you better and dont care about houses or stuff, keep the cat or dog and let her collect meaningless stuff. Semper Fi:)

I know what you mean, Joe. It's way behind me now and I've been remarried for 23 years, but she never found anyone else who would put up with her. And I did go back and get the dog about a year later.

1965-71...I was busy being BORN in the middle of that... :)
Former co-worker of mine was left with a huge pile of bills and nothing else when his wife left him about 30 years ago. He know owns his own grocery store, is completely debt free, and loves life, while she is married to a broken down loser living on welfare and SSI. Fernie's favorite phrase was, "What goes around, comes around!"
Back to weighing charges, I weight carefully what I can't meter, like that 700X flake powder. I got so disgusted with having to weigh each and every charge I ended up trading it for some AA#1680!
