I sold my last AK and miss it. I also want another SKS to go along with my Norinko. Are these rifles worth spending money on? They will both be shot a lot at the range.

Thanks.

Either one for the range. Shoot about the same. If you can find one with a bright bore, I would opt for the Yugo.
Then again, the SAR1 is a lot of fun also.

Both are great rifles. I sold my old SAR-1 to a good friend who loves it and am actually buying a brand new one tomorrow.

I own a Yugo SKS, and it's a hoot to shoot as well. I'm going to get a second one of these real soon.

Yes, I would recommend you get both.

Both great rifles. My only criticism of the Yugo is that the bore and chamber are not chrome lined.

Both are worth the normal asking price.

Last week I saw VG/Excellent grade Yugos offered for $160 and SAR1s @ $350. I would say those prices are fair in my area.

As for Chrome plated bore and chamber, I don't worry much about it in 7.62x39. Wolf is dirt cheap and brand new non corrosive ammo as well as Barnaul. Get and VG/Excellent bore and you can be assured of keeping it that way with minimal fuss.

If I had to get just one right now it would be the SAR1. That one would most likely be banned quicker if some idiots wanted a new law and hopefully leaving you with a "grandfathered" gun.

Good Shooting

I don't own an SKS (thinking about it though), but I do have an SAR-1. I've got four or five other rifles, but I've shot the SAR at least 100 times as much as the others. It's just a hoot, as you seem to be realizing/reminiscing. You just gotta have one.

Bought a SAR-1 last weekend-------going shootin this weekend.

Might put an SKS on lay-a-way if the dealer still has them---he had the rack full of Yugo SKS's---went in 2 weeks later(when I bought my SAR)----and it was slim pickins.

Hopefully he got more toys in during the week.

I also have a Polish M-44----these Eastern block guns are really becoming an addiction.

The Yugo's are definitely worth the money. You can get excellent-unissued ones for under $200. No other battle rifles, in like condition, come close price-wise. They're accurate enough, reliable, easy to maintain, and cheap to feed. Need I say more?

Thanks for the input.

I think I will buy the SAR-1 then another SKS.

I will remove the grenade launcher sight from the SKS though. the Yugos are so muzzle heavy with all that that crap on them.

I'm gonna shoot the hell out of the yugo and keep my Norinko paratrooper in the excellent condition that is in.
