First off, this site is full of great info. I'm new to reloading ( just fired my first 100 home made rounds this weekend ) everything went well except that the firing pin on my Uberti six shooter ( 38sp ) just about tried to go through the primer bottom, I'm using Winchester Small Pistol primers. Does anyone think I need to go to Magnum primers as I have read they are thicker, or maybe I should have seated the SPP ones deeper. By the way this is the first time out for this gun.

It's probably the firing pin tip.

I had to make a new firing pin for my Uberti / Cimarron .45 Colt to stop it from piercing primers with heavy loads / light loads / any loads.

The one that came in the gun was too long, as well as shaped wrong. It had a sharp edge on one side of the supposedly rounded tip.

Also, the factory hammer spring was strong enough to set off an anti-tank mine!
