I am in the market for a set of dies for my AR. I was reading that the Forster full length die has the expander positioned up high in the die so the case is supported more than some other dies. I was thinking either Redding or Forster. What do you guys think.

Get the Forster Ultra Micrometer FL set. Just as good as Redding and you'll be saving some money too.https://www.callingcoyotes.com/images/FRUMICSET.jpg

I use nothing but Redding dies. A few cartridges I get the Lee FCD for rifle only but that's the only exception.

I don't have a bolt gun for 223 but I have gas guns in this caliber. I Have a Redding Deluxe kit and Competition Seater. I also have a Dillon Carbide sizer and a RCBS X Sizer.
I have the Redding crimp die as well as the Lee factory crimp die though a rarely crimp .223.
I also have my old faithful RCBS 2 die set. What can I say... I'm a pack rat.
I love the Redding and the Dillon is also cool but kind of a novalty for me since I used Hornady 1 shot with it. The RCBS X-sizer die is new to me and I am still experimenting with it so I don't have an opinion yet.
The old RCBS 2 die set has been used the most. Loaded mucho mucho rounds with them. they are really good dies.

I'll put in a plug for the Forster seating die. Well made, very precise, and a pleasure to use. Also very consistant with OAL when loading for my AR.

I have a standard Redding set for .223. (roll crimp seater), a Redding Taper Crimp die, and also a Forster seater.
All my blasting/plinking ammo is loaded on the standard set with a medium roll crimp.
Accuracy minded loads are seated with the Forster seater. I use a light taper crimp on those intended for the AR, but I used no crimp when I had a bolt gun in .223. Wish I still had it.
