Why I haven't been buying online....

Availability.....
Lately I've been hoofing it to different stores to get components, online suppliers seem to be out of so many items.
Below is the result of stopping in at (2) Cabela's, (3) Scheels, and (2) Gander Mountain locations in the last two days. Interesting note is Scheels had the best prices, Gander Mountain was about 25-30% higher than anyone else....Cabela's came in between the two. No special trick to finding this stuff, just walk in and hope you hit them on a restocking day. No one store had it all.
The big chain stores buying power must carry some weight with the distributors....They're getting components no else can keep on hand.

Some "mom & pop" shops,I guess pop mostly(at least in my neck of the woods) ,continue to be a great source as well.
If possible ? Help "your local guy".If not,get it where you can.

I always buy local if possible. Help the small guy first. I only buy online if the local guy doesn't have it. You get better service and more friendly.:)

I buy my powder and primers at local gun shops and have been paying the same price as last year. Bullets I buy online because I can get a better price.
I stop in at the local Gander Mountain every once in a while but never end up buying anything, their prices are a joke.

Agreed. Local Gander around here is reasonable on powder compared to most other local sources, same with primers last I bought them - within reason.
Bullets? Hilariously bad, bad joke. Checked by there the other day - boxes of Hornady .308 165 SP's for 40 bucks pre-tax.
Check that price just about anywhere, especially online. Bought some off Natchez a few weeks back and I do believe they were 20.99. So still laughably cheaper even if I only bought/shipped even one box, much less a shipping-combined package of stuff. That's pretty bad. And the help, generally, is of that "Home Depot" variety when you bother to ask for some, with a few admitted but limited exceptions.

It has been costing me a few cents more but I've been ordering directly from the manufacturers lately and have had some good success with the ones that offer that option.

I ONLY have a "local guy", but that is fine with me, he is not well known, so there is still stuff there for me to get started with. That, and he is a great guy to buy from. VERY helpful, always.

Always try the small Guy first. SLANDER MOUNTAIN SUCKS! I bought a box of 168 gr hpbt from them as I was desperate to get some Garand stuff going. $43 a hundred. OK I'll bite the bullet (pun intended). Went down the road and found a local guy with the same for $24 (still high but better) Wasn't in my hometown so didn't know this guy was there. Went back to SLANDER MOUNTAIN to return-exchange 15 min later. Had unopened box with receipt showing 15 min ago purchase. NO RETURNS ON RELOADING ITEMS PERIOD! You got my last dollar ever. PERIOD
