I know i dont own anything but had a thought about a kit for 3-gun. My question is whether a certain caliber is required for the competition or what kind of effective range you need.

I was thinking of someone using a GSG-5 for both Rifle and Sidearm. I'm talking 2 different GSG-5's with one in pistol configuration and one in Rifle with stock and full length barrel. Alternately use a long barrel and a collapsible stock to use the same gun as your pistol and rifle. My other thought is that using this gun in .22 would make your ammunition costs very low.

The only downside i can think of is if you have rifle targets at long range like 200+ yards where ive heard the .22 caliber starts to lose some accuracy.

The only reason im posting is because i thought the prospect of being extremely versatile and using the same gun for better consistency might be a useful suggestion.

Some matches do have .22lr specific classes, if you can find those, you are good. That is probably how i am going to start, my P22 and my Spikes .22lr AR.

USPSA 3 gun matches 9x19 / 38spl. for pistol and .223 for rifle. Max length for pistol magazine 140 mm, MP5k too large and too heavy to be used, also pistol must be worn in strong side holster, GSG5/MP5 pistol cannot fit in holster with magazine inserted. May be able to use the GSG5 pistol and rifle in steel showdown, steel challenge matches, unless there is a holster requirement.
