Glock trouble

Hello:

I am writing once again because the strangest thing happened to me last night and I was hoping I could get some help!!

I was taking a romantic walk with my girlfriend through her father's property (He owns a very big peach plantation) and we decided to start shooting just for the blast of it. So I took out my Glock 25 and fired 7 shots as quickly as I could..she finished out the other 8 shots and I took out my second mag (I own 7 mags for my glock) and emptied it as well...ok, everything is cool by now, but after 5 shots of my third mag the slide went down and went into battery, but had not chambered a round. I thought it was a bad luck case, so I racked it and after 3 shots the slide just locked back...Changed mags because I thought it might be magazine related, but ALL MY 6 MAGAZINES FAILED !!!

Tried hand racking every bullet out of a fresh mag and the same goes..3-4 bullets run smoothly and then the gun jams...

I just love my glock, but this scares the hell out of me!!

BTW, Glock 25 is not locked breech, it is blowback operated.

How can I fix that??

Check your mag springs. They might be getting old and weaker, especially if you keep your mags loaded all of the time.

You can not change the blowback to fixed breech.

Ok..forgot to say that I tried my mags in her Glock 28 and they work fine (although they look awful!!!!) so it is not magazine related..what is going on with my little baby??

Just guessing but have you tried a new recoil spring?

Huh?

As far as I know, the Glock 25 is a tilting barrel design, which means that the slide and the barrel are locked together as the slide recoils.

Not sure what you're trying to fix...

I would suspect that if there's a spring problem, it the spring that is associated with the slide stop/slide release.

(I've got a Glock, but haven't had it long enough to examine the inner workings, yet...)

---------
I've never seen a Glock 25 -- as they're not sold in the US.

But the parts diagrams I've seen makes them look like other locked-breech Glocks. Don't see anything about it that looks "blowback" in design.

(Most .380 are blowback, but not all...)

Mike Irwin:

I was not talking about fixing the fact that is is blowback operated..I was asking about how to fix the problem I have.

Gunslinger45 : No, not yet. Getting one may help???

Every time a pistol fails to chamber the next round for me it is becuase I hit the magazine release with one of my fingers during recoil. Every time the slide locks open when the magazine is still loaded it is because my right thumb pushed the slide stop up during reciol. Pay attention to what your fingers are doing when you shoot and maybe you will find the problem.

Huh, didn't know those .380 ACP G25/28 Glocks were not locked breech. (Not sold in the US.)

Did the rails go dry on lube?

I am not familiar with Glocks so I can't say for sure. I do know that a weak recoil spring in a 1911 can cause feeding problems. Having extra recoil springs around can't hurt anyway. Try it.

First thing I thought of was a weak spring...recoil or mag & since your mag worked in your GF's gun, I'd go w/ recoil spring.

Good luck figuring it out!

I started dating my girlfriend 2 years ago and at the begginning I was thinking about dumping her..she and her entire family were antis!! But for my good luck they were antis just because lack of knowledge -no bad experiences, etc- so a couple months of range and some good gun talk with her parents made them all get guns!! Sure she is a keeper!!We will be getting married in 8 months...hope the honeymoon involves some shooting!

Girlfriend: Glock 28, Ruger KMK-512 (Mark II),Tanfoglio Lady force and a taurus snubby in .38spl
Her dad: Beretta tomcat, Tanfoglio FT9 and Bersa .380
Her mom: Baby browning
ME: Glock 25, Baikal IZH-71H (makarov in .380),tanfoglio GT380,Baby Browning,Bryco Valor -ok, don't laugh- and a browning 12 ga.

Not like the collections you guys have, but very big for Peru!!

What kind of ammo? Are you shooting lighter loads than usual?

Is the chamber clean?

Have you replaced the original spring with a higher powered model?

It sounds like the slide isn't going back far enough to strip the round from the mag.

As far as I know, the Glock 25 is a tilting barrel design, which means that the slide and the barrel are locked together as the slide recoils. C'mon, Mike, you're slippin'... the Glock Models 25 and 28 are, respectively, the Models 17 and 19 with those locking lugs removed specifically to convert the locked breech pistols to blowback operation for the 9 X 17mm round.

The magazines are also "shimmed" at the rear for the shorter cartridge.

By what dark art of necromancy can a thread started on October 15th, 2003 08:05 PM get resurrected five months later?

BTW the Glocks 25 and 28 share the frame and slide with the Glocks 19 and 26.

It's called using the Search Function and it can be fun.
There's a lot of wisdom hiding in the nooks and crannies here.
