Thinking of getting a 9 mm revolver possibly the Charter Arms when they come out for my wife. She is VERY recoil sensitive so I'm asking is their any low power 9mm ammo like the 38 special wadcutters around. I would like to keep my caliber's all alike. Have a few different 9mm handguns. The price of 38 is nearly double the cost of 9mm in the local Wal Mart.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Simple answer, NO!

I have a 4" K frame Smith 547 with comfortable rubber grips. Shooting 115 grain ball ammo like WW White box is noticeably more snappy than shooting 38 specials through one of my similar K frame revolvers. Not unpleasant, but different. If your wife is very recoil sensitive I'd suggest staying with a 22 or using 38 special wadcutters. Maybe it's time for you to get into reloading.

The 9mm is a more powerful round by about 1/3 then most any standard pressure .38 Special, but especially the 148 WC target load.

The 9mm would have a much sharper felt recoil in a similar weight gun.

Since you want to keep all calibers alike, then does it HAVE to be a revolver? Something like a Glock 26 absorbs recoil and is small in size.

If it HAS to be a revolver, the 38 would be easier for her. I bought 148 WC online relatively inexpensively - is she going to shoot a lot? If so, and you don't reload, then look for remanufactured ammo from various folks online; then you save your brass and ship them back and they reload them for you.....

Here's a video of someone shooting a 9mm Smith 547 with 3" barrel. The gun weighs 32oz empty. This should give you some idea of the recoil.

My wife has a Taurus 905 9mm snubby, it weighs 22oz. She is not an experienced shooter and can shoot the gun well but she prefers to wear gloves because after a few cyls full it hurts the palm of her hand. I don't think it's bad but I've been at this a long time and I'm fairly big guy with big hands, I guess I absorb the recoil better than she.
