Ok, next month I will have enough for ONE of the following Albanian SKS ,Yugo SKS, or Schmit Rubin K31. In Dec I'll have more money, so I'll pick up what I don't get now. My question is What should I get now because it might not be around if I wait? I have no SKS, and to be honest just feel like I need one because I don't have one. I like the looks of the Albanian better because I don't really have a need for the grenade launcher, and everyone talks up the swiss so much I feel like I need one, just don't know if what I get will be junky because they are all picked through. SO someone help me out here....

Before I can really answer, I have to ask: What rifles do you already own?
That said, here are some useful reviews on:
The Albanian SKS (http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting/albaniansks/index.asp)
The Yugoslavian SKS (http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting/yugosks/index.asp)
I couldn't find a decent review for the K-31, but I can tell you from reading a few forums, handling (but onfortunately not firing) one, and asking someone who had fired it that it is both extremely well made and accurate. However, the ammo is expensive. According to this (http://www.gunboards.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3126) thread on a Swiss weapons forum, the supply may be drying up.

It's really hard to beat an SKS in terms of bang for your buck. Gun and ammo are both cheap, it's reliable and durable and has adequate power for defense, hunting, plinking, survival, etc., etc....
Only drawback is that it is way heavier than it needs to be, but then again that is because it is built like a tank. I have a Norinco and enjoy plinking with it quite often.
Good luck.

First off, thanks for the replys, I agree and will end up buying them. What I really want to know is will I miss any in particular by waiting a month and a half? I have a C&R so I'm talking about ordering it from one of the suppliers. Thanks.

I get some sort of catalog with decent priced SKS's in the mail 1-2/week, so you could probably wait. I don't think the K-31 was produced in near the quantity of the SKS, but the price hasn't gone up in the last few years. Personally, I like the K-31. I got mine for under $100 and it is just as accurate as any of my newer $500+ guns.

I'd get the k-31 first, Albanian SKS second in terms of not-gonna-be-able-to-get-them-later-bility. However, I imagine that the prices for both won't go up too much (if at all) in only a couple of months.
