Question about S&W 625
I was hoping someone could help me with this question. Does the S&W 625 work both with and without moon clips? Can you load and extract rounds individually? Thank you.

No.
They used too, before the advent of the frame mounted firing pin though.
The 1917, 1950, 25, and early 625's worked fine with single rounds.
The new ones don't.
S&W is foolishly chambering them with excess headspace now.
Mine, and two my buddy have will not work without clips or .45 Auto-Rim ammo.
The rounds fall into the chambers so deep the firing pin won't reach them.

Damn thats silly. I've been thinking about the new 4inch Ruger Redhawks .45 colts could be modified to work with .45acp moonclips, and still use the .45 colts. Seems like a better idea really.

All three of mine work fine without Moon clips. I haven't compared accuracy with them or without. They do go bang all the time.

My 325TRR needs moon clips as did the 325NG example that Gun-Tests got.
I recently got a 625 "Mountain Gun" of the post-MIM, pre-lock persuasion and haven't tried it but I'm guessing moon clips are the ticket.
It's probably not a real big deal but it does inhibit our participation in zombie threads - everyone knows the 2nd wave of zombies will wait until you've burned your last clip and even the slowest moving, shuffling zombie is faster than a mooner-gadget.

I for one enjoyed a relaxing afternoon plinking with single-loaded rounds and picking out the empties with my fingernail.
The plastic Rimz moon clips suffice for easy loading by hand now with my "improved" 625-6 Mountain Gun.

Still, somebody should kick the S&W bean-counters azz for this.
You would have thought it would be as cheap to ream chambers for proper headspace as ream them all too deep! Course then, they would have to have proper end shake & headspase settings on all the cylinders, and that would no doubt cost more.
