Parkerising Question: Disassembly

G'day Guys

Can I have some advice on Parkerizing with-out full disassembly?

My worn blued Mauser rusts quick in our wet New Zealand bush on a hunt.

I'm looking to get it Parkerized and have had a good rate offered...but I've just recently "permanently" Loctite-ed the Scope Mount to the Action and it just doesn't want to come off...

Should I / Can I get it parkerized with the Mount still in place and I'll get a great result...ie: the mount "sealed" to the receiver..just like the barrel to receiver "joint"

or will the acid etch into the gap and leave me with an untreated section that will cause problems (ie: rust or loosen-up) down the track?

Would the acid etch / Parkerize process cause the Loctite to release anyway?

Cheers
Paul

Yes, the heat in the bath will likely dissolve your loctite, not to mention ruin the scope.

It's a bad idea.

Heat the screws with a big soldering iron or small torch until the Lock-Tight smokes and the screws will come right out.

If the mount is aluminum, the Park solution would dissolve it and contaminate the Park bath chemicals.

Refinishing with the mount installed is a no-no.

PS: Next time, use Blue Lock-Tight so you can get the screws out if necessary.

Thanks for the advice guys- don't worry I wasn't going to drop the scope in the bath and the scope mount is a long steel one that bridges the action so I'll get a soldering iron and get some heat into it. Cheers
