Revolvers are growing on me.

I bought my first pistol a few years ago. It is a Springfield XD9 4" Service. It is an awesome gun, and very accruate and reliable.

It is to big for me to carry. Even though I would love too, it stays at the house except on long trips away from home. My EDC is now a Taurus 731UL 32 H&R Magnum. I love this little gun. It was my first revolver. It needs a smooth over job on the double action, but it has been reliable, and disappears in my pocket. Goes everywhere with me.

I just bought a Heritage RR .22LR/.22WMR to satisfy my want for a single action .45 Colt, but it hasn't kept me from wanting another. Now I am really finding my lover for revolvers. I feel that the XD9 is not even in the same class as my revolvers. By class I mean this, fun to shoot, fun to clean, and just plain looks and feel.

What to do? I either want a .45 Colt single action, or a .44 Mag that can be loaded down for fun, and loaded hot for hunting.

I LOVE REVOLVERS!!!

Welcome to the "unplastic" world.. there are so many choices for your wants...... Look at a Ruger Blackhawk 45lc next....... or even a 44 mag, maybe a 357.... CDNN has the Anniversary Blackhawks (357 or 44mag) for a good price. I've been wanting a 45LC Blackhawk for some time now....... I'm sure it won't be too much longer. Best of luck to you

Revolvers are growing on me.

When they ripen , can I pick a few?

hahah... Good one, Phydeaux.

I don't like Ruger pistols. I was thinking of getting a Heritage Big Bore. I have read good things. I know they are not 100% USA made, but there are other alternatives.
You never know. I might look into a BlackHawk.

What other options are there in .45 Colt USA Made?

If you are interested in a Double Action, S&W's N-Frame Model 25 (blued) and 625 (stainless) are offered in 45 Colt, though 45 ACP is the more common chambering. FYI, the N-Frame is the same platform for the S&W Model 29 of Dirty Harry fame.

Be warned, once you have been bitten by the revolver bug, there is no cure. Buying more revolvers provides relief to the symptoms, but it also makes the disease even stronger . Resistance is futile!

EIther a RUger Super Blackhawk - .44 Magnum

or the RUger Blackhawk in .45 Colt - it can take loads the S&W M29 can't take on a steaddy diet. You might find a Blackhawk Convertible with
the .45 COlt AND .45 ACP cylinders. I am looking for one
to go with my Marlin 1894 .45 Colt Lever action 20" Bbl. carbine

Revolvers are a joy to shoot and I love double-action and single-action models. One you get a hunting revolver, look seriously at the Ruger Single-Six. These guns are going to be going up in price in the near future and they're great fun. I also am partial to stainless steel.

A good .357 mag is also a great gun to have!

Eb1,
If you like SA revolvers you will probably like the picture of my 5.5" Ruger Vaquero Bisley in .45 Colt.
I have to agree with you, revolvers are addictive.

Is it Freedom Arms I am thinking of when I think of another USA arms manufacturer that makes single action pistols?

Yes, some put Freedom Arms them in the top drawer of SA types.

Revolvers are growing on me.

I have recently been drawn back to revolvers after years of attraction to autos. I was basically raised on a Ruger GP100, but got addicted to Glocks and Sig's over the past decade. Now I am back... just got a Smith J-frame 38, and looking for a Ruger SA... maybe a single six used. I rediscovered my long lost love.

? ?

I have the same gun and I sometimes carry it in an NRA belly band under only a shirt as I also do with my XD .40 tactical 5". Granted it's not the all around carry choice all the time but it's just as easy to carry as the .45 Colt single action, or a .44 Mag you want.

When you say things like: I feel that the XD9 is not even in the same class as my revolvers. By class I mean this, fun to shoot, fun to clean, and just plain looks and feel. I get the feeling you're stepping on my toes.
:neener:

I'm glad you like revolvers but please go easy on the negative opinions on one of my favorite handguns.
;)

Come on, Just One Shot. What I meant about the XD is that is so reliable and accurate that it is just... I don't know how to say it. It is my favorite pistol as well, and if needed will be my **** and get pistol of the ones I have now.

I did a lot of research before I bought that gun, and I bought it out of complete trust.

When I say things like that it is just because I have found something new that makes me feel good.
I do carry my XD "Mexican" sometimes. The holster I have for it is a high on the hip holster, and I am a little to round for it. Maybe a belly band would do the trick.

I admit. I was harsh when talking about my "b!@ch". That is what I call it. Because it barks a lot, and like my dog that I just put down today :(. It is there when I need it.

There ain't much as fun as shooting a .45 Colt single action. You NEED one! :D Neat thing about the big .45 is that casting and reloading is so fruitful with it. Lots of lead in that bullet, so even if there is a little unseen flaw in the casting, it don't amount to much, not like it would on a .355" 124 grain bullet for example. The things tend to be VERY accurate with cast bullets in the 255 grain range. You can stuff Unique in behind that bullet or you can even use Goex for the real effect! It was originally designed for BP after all. Personally, I shoot Unique in it and reserve the BP/Pyrodex for my Ruger Old Army which is another WAY cool revolver once you get tired of using that new fangled brass cartridge stuff.

There soon may be a day when we will all be reloaders. When that day arrives, I for one don't want to be at the range or in the woods on hands and knees looking for my cases... ;)

Skookumchuk, that is another issue I have target shooting my auto pistol. I like it when I can just dump the catridges into my hand. I have learned to mark my brass with a perm. marker so that I know it is my when shooting my auto.

I have nothing against the auto pistol. Plastic or Steel. I own a XD9, and would not give it up to tell the truth. I trust my life with it. I would throw it off the house, soak in a minnow bucket full of swamp water, burry it in sand, and still trust it with my life. The XD platform is top notch.

When I take my family to the range. I have found just the few times I have taken the Heritage RR. That the single action pistol was most preferred. Ironically my 63 year old mother prefers the XD9.

Hell, revovlers have grown on me so much that I just did a deal on a couple of black powder percussion Uberti Remingtons.

I think that this pretty much defines "sickness" in most folk's books, no?

Over the years, my taste has evolved to include and appreciate wheelguns. Nothing like a properly tuned DA trigger
