I have a Win 94 (non-AE) and would like to put a peep site/ghost ring on it. Which is better between the Williams and Lyman sights?

I have had both and I prefer the Lyman. Lyman is detachable and if one reloads one can have different loads sighted in for different purposes. The sight can also be taken off if a scope will be put on, and in my opinion is just makes it more versatile.

I have Williams' "fool-proof" micrometer peep on my non-ae 94. Like it just fine, you can unscrew and remove the peep for a decent "ghost ring" if you feel the need. I haven't used the Lyman, but I'm sure it would work just fine as well. Get whichever appeals most to you. That's what I did.

I take it your 94 isnt drilled and tapped like the AE 94's? If it is, I'd suggest that you check out the AO ghost ring sight. Its a lot more sight in a smaller package. Its well made, rock solid, and works well. I've had the Lyman reciever sight on a couple of my older 94's and it does work, but its susceptible to snaging on things and I always was afraid something was going to happen to it.

Nope - the top is not drilled. I'm not planning to ever mount a scope on it.

By the way, is the Lyman steel? I think the Williams is aluminum.

(AK103K - do you happen to have a Krebs AK-103K?)

Yes I do. :)

I believe the Lymans are steel, at least I'm pretty sure mine were.
The AO uses the rear set of scope mount holes on the AE guns to mount. If you ever get to look at one, you might just drill those holes. :)

I just put a williams on my 94. It is non AE but was drilled and tapped.
works great, shot a 3 shot group at ~ 80 yards. 2.5 inches or so, had to look twice.

Used to have a non angle eject 94- The first thing I did was put a williams peep on it. I liked the setup and it only took a few minutes for me to install.
Didn't help much in the accuracy department, but made sight alignment and target aquisition much easier.

Lyman on my Browning B-92 .44. Old tang sights on my OLD winchesters. The Williams are OK but, yes they are aluminum. I like williams on shot guns. The lymans have venier lines that can be dialed in quickly for different loads. I scratch a line to where it will be sighted in for favorite load. The williams are better left set IMHO. but are pretty rugged(and not as pretty) . The old Redfield peep sights were even BETTER IMHO.;)

I bought a Lyman recently and it is aluminum now, like the Williams sights. Have an old Lyman on a 336 -- it's compact and tough -- and excellent sight.
