Reloading the .357 Sig Questions

Hey all,

I'm seriously considering buying an HKP2000 in .357 Sig, and the main thing that's holding me back is the ammo costs.

Obviously, if you can reload this cartridge, it probably won't be an issue assuming you have the brass.

I mainly reload .45 Auto, and was wondering what would be entailed in reloading the .357 Sig round to have it perform ballistically comparable to some of the common SD ammo (I would be using the P2000 as my carry gun for the summertime, so I would want to get in a lot of good practice with it, in the event that, God forbid, I had to use it).

As it currently stands, I really no do not know much about the cartridge at all. I was reading my Hornady manual, which said it takes 9mm bullets, and was basically a .40S&W powder charge behind a 9mm. This means that the case is bottlenecked, so would this round feed off the shoulder of the cartridge like a rifle? If so, would you need to trim the case down prior to reloading it as you would a rifle round?

Has anyone developed any loads that are very similar to SD ammo?

Thanks in advance! :D

Rather than go into another long discussion on this, I'll just refer you to this thread for now: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=246455&highlight=357+Sig

Then if you have further questions, fire away.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the link, it looks like I have a fair bit of reading to do, but I probably will still have a few questions since I have neither the cartridge nor the gun in front of me!

It's an easy round to load, but there are a couple of quirks. Once you learn them, it's just like loading just about any other caliber.

Hope this helps.
