I guess the Million Mom March has sunk to a new low. They can now be identified with Pill Pushers, Weight Loss Gimmicks, and Porn stars.

I got an email today that was kind of a shock. The MMM wants me to visit a website and sign my name to help stop the NRA. I was so mad I could have just spit!! How can the just assume that I am some liberal robot that marches to the orders of the great MMM. I think we should all visit the link below and screw up their stupid list however possible. I know there are many people on THR that are bitter at the NRA. If the MMM is able to successfully attack the NRA all of the other pro gun organizations will be next on the list.

<P>We need your help now.</P>
<P>Believe it or not the NRA publishes a 19-page list of people, companies, and causes it believes are "anti-gun." A "blacklist."</P>

Sunk to new lows alright. That list has been around for years, and they're just now getting around to attacking it.

The desperation really kinda cracks me up. "The list is as American as apple pie." Really? What part of the NAACP is really pro-American rather than pro-black skin and to hell with anything that gets in our way? Poor, poor MMM.

As much as I despise the MMM, I must admit that it is possible that this is a "joe job" (http://catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/J/joe-job.html)(a spammer framing an innocent party as the sender).

If it was, they'd have to hack a mail server. Since sendmail and CommuniGate both have few security holes, chances run high that it was some mailing list program a la mailman.

In other words - this is unlikely to be a joe job.

And yes, I hunt down spammers (sometimes for a living), and it's season on them all year. :)

the list is as all-American as motherhood and apple pie

Wow, that's almost as American as the Constitution and the Second Amendment.

Something should be done with that e-mail message. I don't know what but there must be some way to have it work against them.

Saw the attempt to stir up a furor over the so-called "enemies list" on the Today Show yesterday, too. That would have been a good piece to show anyone who tries to tell you the media is not biased. It was blatant enough that the average fence-sitter would have found it pretty obvious.

Found it mildly amusing. The outrageousness of such lists must be variable. Otherwise, how do they explain the fact that when MMM had enough money to cover its operating expenses (not to mention illegally obtained tax breaks and free taxpayer-supported office space to help stretch a dollar) they had a running archive of their "Time Out Corner" which highlighted politicans and public figures who said things they didn't like?

Yes, both orgs do (or did) this. The difference is that the NRA pays its taxes and does not pretend that it doesn't lobby or engage in public electioneering and lobbying of this sort. I guess that sort of chaps MMM's hide.

I got it too.
But, I get a lot of their stuff.
They think I am a good guy.
I use their mailings and emails against them wherever possible.

They claim to have gotten 10,000 sign-ups in just three days. Goal now 25,000.

Our phony signups help boost their braggin rights.

Gettin their mailings helps boost their postage bill.

Gain some, lose some.

AOLTW dissolution was announced yesterday. It was on the news. TW is very disappointed with the profits AOL brought to the table.

Guess won't be getting hate mail for much longer.
