good camo clothing, coyotes see and hear very well. I guess the next thing would be some willing coyotes. Very fun sport, varmint hunting/calling. I gave it up for a while but have slowly been getting back into it. Still prefer a 22 pistol but shotgun will do the trick. I always preferred smaller shot as to not damage the pelt but these days it does not matter, no market for the pelts.

yeah it's new they only came here a cupple years ago but they are really hard on the things like our rabbits mooose and our caribou are taking the biggest hit. so they have opened up a season to hunt coyote and I want to get in to it.

We hunt them with rifles in Kansas.
Calling may involve shots from 5 yards to 500 yards depending on how spooky they are.
A shotgun is severely limited on range.

Pretty much what rc said.
You're gonna have a hell of time getting yotes that close unless you can get in a stand (which is not allowed here in the states as far as I know).
Get yourself a rifle with a quality scope that you can take 50 - 300 yard shots with. Many use the .223 Remington as their preferred coyote rifle.

Get yourself a Savage 24....223 over 12 gauge. The best of both worlds :)

Year round season here in AZ, buck shot works fine.

Personally, I don't use that. I prefer something with more power. If using a .22, you would have to make sure of your shot placement or you will have a wounded animal running around possibly dieing a slow death. Just my 2¢ though.
