Tamara December 26, 2002, 09:37 AM ...caliber or gauge among the guns you own?
Believe it or not, I only have a couple of .22s and only one 12 GA shotgun (I figure these two will be the most popular answers), but I just realized that I have like seven firearms chambered in .45 ACP...
I should probably buy more ammo in that caliber than I do. :o

Triad December 26, 2002, 09:45 AM .22. More ammo's always a good idea.
11xray December 26, 2002, 09:46 AM Hands down, the .308. I just seem to gravitate toward them for some reason or other, not really sure why.
22x9 December 26, 2002, 09:48 AM .22LR & 9MM Luger of course
RustyHammer December 26, 2002, 09:48 AM .357 Magnum (by far ...)
Politically Incorrect December 26, 2002, 09:52 AM Actually, I have two .22s, so that would be most common, but I do have a four varieties of .30 caliber rifles. :)

Meowhead December 26, 2002, 09:57 AM 9mm (three guns), and .22LR (two). The rest of my collection is one gun, one calibre - 7.62x39mm, 7.62x51, 12ga, .44 Mag.
45R December 26, 2002, 09:57 AM 9mm and 45ACP
But the only .22 pistol that I has seen over 3K in rounds in the last month between myself and my significant other.
45R
BigG December 26, 2002, 10:01 AM I would think 45 ACP and 223/5.56 in Colt products. :D

BenW December 26, 2002, 10:11 AM 45ACP by a long shot, followed by 10MM, all in 1911 configuration of course.:)
I seem to only be a pistol caliber duplicator. All my long guns are different calbers /gauges. Though I have recently gotten excited about milsurp collecting, and at $60 a pop, expect to have a growing population of 8MM VZ-24s.:D
Stetson_CO December 26, 2002, 10:16 AM .45LC(5) for me then .36 blackpowder(3)
Then there are pairs of calibers but they arent shot as much. I think the next closest is 7mm but I havent counted in a while.

80fl December 26, 2002, 10:16 AM 7.62X51 by far with 7.62X39 coming in second. A fair bit of .223 and 30.06.
KMKeller December 26, 2002, 10:16 AM I have more .45s than anything else.
tobeat1 December 26, 2002, 10:19 AM Its a tie, 2 45s, 2 9mm, 2 12 gauges, 2 5.56mm, 2... well you get the idea.
Remember, two is one and one is none.
Marko Kloos December 26, 2002, 10:20 AM Mr. Spreadsheet says that I have guns in a dozen different calibers, but the only "multiple copies" are .357 Magnum (two K-frames), 9mm Luger (two Europistols), and .32ACP(two pocket guns).
Orion December 26, 2002, 10:24 AM It's a tie! How funny is that?
I've got 6 45.ACPs and 6 9mm's
Damn, I guess this next purchase decides who I am huh?
Sodbuster December 26, 2002, 10:26 AM None. Don't own two alike.

thumbtack December 26, 2002, 12:00 PM 22LR is the most popoular in my closet.
5 total 3 rifles and 2 pistols.
Next would be a tie between 9MM and 30.06, with two of each.
tlhelmer December 26, 2002, 12:27 PM The .40 caliber is the highest at four. It is followed by the 9mm.

444 December 26, 2002, 12:34 PM I would have to say .357. I think I own multiples of almost every caliber. I don't really have a count but I know I have at least a dozen .357 revolvers and one .357 rifle. .22LR would have to be close though, I don't have a count on .22s. Then probably .223/5.56 NATO, I think I have six of those. I probably have around 5-6 9mms, no I take that back, if I count 9mm carbines I have at least 7 9mms. I don't know, but .357 surely takes it for me.
Snowdog December 26, 2002, 12:48 PM Unpleasantly so, this thread caught me off guard. About to skip on to the next thread, I gave the question some thought.
I realized that I have four 9mm handguns. I then remembered that I don't particularly like 9mms.
I also remembered that I only have two .45acps, my favored handgun cartridge.
I guess I'm a creature of strange habits. :(
Well, to answer the question, my most common handgun chambering is in .38special.
Glock_17 December 26, 2002, 01:12 PM 1x .22lr
4x 9x19
1x .45ACP
Only handguns so far, but looking for a shotgun!
Blackhawk December 26, 2002, 01:17 PM 9x19
HS/LD December 26, 2002, 01:27 PM I am going to try and make this as accurate as possible:
2x .22
12x 9mm (HKp7/BHP/Glock/HKMp5)
2x .40S&W
1x .45ACP
8x .308 (7.62x51)
4x 12gauge
1x 10gauge (never fired)
1x .30 06
2x 7.62x39
1x .177 (no powder)
2x .44mag
Ok I think that about right...
36 firearms..... that can't be right I must be missing something.
Regards,
HS/LD
Ala Dan December 26, 2002, 01:28 PM I don't own anything that I would consider "common";
every one I own has a purpose, therefore I refer to
them as "speciality weapon's.
Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member
Schuey2002 December 26, 2002, 01:32 PM The most common among my many "toys" would be .223 for the rifles and 9mm for the handguns..;)
P12 December 26, 2002, 01:50 PM 1 - 22 rifle
1 - 25 Raven
1 - 380 Llama
1 - 45 Para Ord.
1 - 7.62x39 SKS
1 - 12 gauge (the only S&W that I still own. Hey I'll take it only so far - it was my daddy's gun)
If I have my way, the 45 will pull into the lead. I want a Para LDA in 45 and one in 9mm.
Prodigalshooter December 26, 2002, 01:57 PM Looks like 4 in .357, first I was gonna say .22 & 9mm, but only have two in each of those calibers. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me!
triggertime December 26, 2002, 02:05 PM Most common would be .45 auto and 9mm.
jiggs December 26, 2002, 02:08 PM 4-22lr
4-9mm
3-357
various others incl muzzleloaders.
MrKandiyohi December 26, 2002, 02:09 PM 3 .22's for me.
I have doubles of .38/.357, .30-06, and 12 gauge.
I'm looking for another .22 rifle and possibly a .357 lever action, so I may end up with a tie.
seeker_two December 26, 2002, 02:11 PM .22lr & .38spl..
Oldies but goodies...:D
Slotback December 26, 2002, 02:13 PM I have lots o' .40's and a couple of .223s.
ruger357 December 26, 2002, 02:18 PM .45 auto
Kevinch December 26, 2002, 02:19 PM I sorta have mine spread out. Lemme think here: .22LR: 3 .32ACP: 2 .380ACP: 2 9x18: 3 .357MAG: 2 .40S&W: 1 .41MAG: 1 .44MAG: 1 .45ACP: 2 7.62x39: 1 .223: 1 .270: 1 12GA: 2
Well, I guess it's a tie between the .22LR & the 9x18. Of course, I haven't bought a gun for about 8 months so who knows....
AR-10 December 26, 2002, 02:33 PM I have four revolvers chambered for .357 Magnum.
Doubles in several calibers. No 9mm and no .22 handguns. They don't interest me.

Fly320s December 26, 2002, 02:41 PM 4 guns, 4 calibers
Variety is the spice of guns.
Fed168 December 26, 2002, 04:59 PM 9mm in handguns, 12 ga in shotguns, and .308 for the rifles.
Rick R December 26, 2002, 06:17 PM The most common caliber in my armory is 5.56 with three and a half specimens, and a .223 Rem barrel for the TC also. I was infected by AR15-L a few years ago and now any AR-15 parts around the house eventually become whole rifles. I hear voices in the night telling me that my spare upper receiver wants it's own lower...
Rick
Mike Irwin December 26, 2002, 06:41 PM 3 shotguns, 50 or more rifles and handguns.

JackShandy December 26, 2002, 08:36 PM ...I've got one Beretta (9mm), one S&W (.357 mag.), one Marlin (.22 lr.) and one Savage (.223), yet I seem to have waayyyy more 9mm ammo than anything else. Go figure...

Yea, I only own a couple but the collection will grow by at least one .45 and a 10MM as soon as I get back to the states.
m.i.sanders December 26, 2002, 09:18 PM I'm like pdmoderator, don't own any two that's alike. That'll probably change though if I talk myself into one of those XD compacts though.
Chugach December 26, 2002, 09:23 PM Hmm, I was actually surprised when I added things up.
For those within reach, 9 x 19 wins.

357Man December 26, 2002, 10:06 PM For me, for now it is .357 Mag (hence the handle). I need to pick up a lever action in .357 to make the deal complete, though.

.308, 3 of them
10mm, 3 of them
.22lrs, 3 of them
.357s, 3 of them
Of course I have a springfield scout on the short list in 308, a 4 inch gp100 in 357 magnum, a glock 20 compensated would also be nice. 22s have no chance of winning this game next year.
echo3mike December 27, 2002, 12:08 AM .308 and a 30.06...22lr I gave dad for his birthday...9mm...soon to be .177 air rifle...not much, but they shoot.

Guy B. Meredith December 27, 2002, 01:42 PM Well, I'm firearms deprived compared to most folk here. My current balance of .357 magnum/.38 sp to .22 is 3/2. One lonely 12 GA that I will be finding a companion for when I can. Maybe a lever action .357 mag rifle, too.
Mike Irwin December 27, 2002, 04:46 PM After thinking about this for quite awhile, I reached the same conclusion that I've reached before. My recent purchases don't dethrone the .357 Magnum as my most common caliber.
2 Charter Arms Bulldog Tracker .357 Mags.
3 S&W Model 19s
2 S&W Model 28s.
Next most common would probably be 9mm.
A Beretta, a Radom, and a Kahr.
Pappy John December 27, 2002, 05:13 PM .22's by far.....3 handguns and 3 rifles.

ARGarrison December 27, 2002, 11:58 PM 3- 12 gauge
second place; 2- .22 LR
All other singles
Mal H December 28, 2002, 12:06 AM I guess I fall into the predictable group -- 5 .22's (7 if you count .224 rifle calibers).
Then 3 .45's
2 12 Ga.
All the rest are singles.
TheBluesMan December 28, 2002, 12:25 AM I guess you could say that my collection (if you can call it that) is fairly diverse. I have two 12 ga. pump shotguns. An 870 and a 500A.
All others are singles. From .223 to .30-06 and from 9X18 to .45
MountainPeak December 28, 2002, 12:28 AM 45acp
*8* December 28, 2002, 01:37 AM mostly 9mm and .308 stuff.
Pointman December 28, 2002, 02:54 AM I finally whittled the collection down to almost all 308/762 and 45. I got tired of changing dies in the loader....
eotp December 28, 2002, 03:01 AM .45 ACP, followed by .357 Magnum.
blades67 December 28, 2002, 03:16 AM I have more 9mm guns than anything else, but the .45 ACP is catching up.;)
Moondancer December 28, 2002, 05:44 AM 22 rimfire: Stevens bolt-action, Marlin lever action, Ruger Super Single Six - makes (3)
12 gauge: Mossberg 950 - makes (1)
.380: Llama Model III (IIRC) - makes (1)
.357 Magnum: S&W 686 4" bbl., Hawes derringer - makes (2)
.45 ACP: Kimber Compact CDP - makes (1)
.44 Magnum: Ruger Super Blackhawk in SS 4 5/8" bbl. - makes (1)
Just sold a 20 gauge double barrel.
So, for those who keep track like I do - 3 long guns and 6 handguns. Now, if I can just convince the wife that I need to even up the odds a bit, maybe an AR-15, a Mini-14, and an M1A1 would do!
Nanook December 28, 2002, 07:27 AM .22LR; three rifles and three handguns. After that it would have to be 7.62x51 and then .45acp. The usual stuff...
GD December 28, 2002, 09:26 AM 7.62 x 54 with 8mm coming in 2nd. I collect Mosins and Mausers.
With my collection of other firearms I have 9 other calibres. I try to keep 1000 rounds of ammo for each calibre.

chaim December 29, 2002, 01:38 PM .357mag, I love .357mag:D . Well, except out of J-frames and equivelent (I had to let the 605 go). Since it will shoot .38spl and I have a dedicated .38 too (and soon will have more) I suppose you can say I have more guns that will shoot .38spl than any other (shrug).
Edit:
Oh wait!!! This was the General section, not General Handguns. Until I got rid of the 605 that would still be correct as a tie (and if you count .38s with the .357s since they'll both shoot .38s it still is a tie) but I own 3 .22lr rifles so I guess that is my most common. Funny, with one exception I haven't really found any .22lr rifles I really like that much either (and I plan to add one or two more over the next year) (shrug again).

bogie January 3, 2003, 04:51 PM I'm weird...
My Stolle Panda is a 6PPC (several barrels), a 6BR, and a .22PPC "Ratdog."
My Savage 110 is a .243 and a 6BR.
My Savage 12BVSS-S is a .22-250, and is probably going to get an additional 6/284 barrel.
My Savage 110FP is a .308
I've also got a Bushie Dissipator .223.
Several (not sure how many...) Ruger 10/22s - I tend to impulse buy 'em when I'm feelin' down while walkin' through department stores - nothin' like a new toy to pick up one's spirits! I think I've got one or two I've never shot...
Also got a Mossy 500 and an old J.Stevens (no relation to J-Lo) model 235 that's cut down to 18.5" and is REAL sweet.
Only "handgun" currently is black powder. Workin' on that...
And I know I'm forgetting something or other...
Mastrogiacomo January 3, 2003, 05:41 PM Still building mine but I have a .38 and two 9 mm Berettas. If I can change my permit, I'll buy more 9 mm. Plan to get the Neos and Cougar in a .45 when they are available in Massachusetts.:D
