The best value in Autoloaders?

What is the best value in a currently manufactured auto? Price doens't matter.

I think the best price/value ratio is either the Springfield Milspec 1911 or the EAA Witness series of pistols. Both are under $400 and a great buy for the money.

What are some other great deals out there? Anything on the C&R list?

CZ-75B in any caliber. That is a great pistol for the money!

For a C&R, I'd have to go with the Agentine Sistema. Basically a WWII 1911A1, built under licence, on Colt machinery in Argentina.

Both go for about the same price, somewhere between $300 and $380 depending on where you shop.

Another good C&R is the Manhurin PP. A Walther PP made under licence in France. Only 32ACP, but they are in the $250 range.

Best value? I'd say either the CZ or the XD's. Well made, good shooters & inexpensive too :)

CZ's. You can pay more money for a gun, but you won't get more gun for your money.:D

Another vote for the Ruger series. You can buy one used for peanuts. They are ugly and bulky, but they are accurate and dead reliable. If there ever comes a time(out of ammo-gun malfs-stuff like that) you can beat the daylights out of somebody with it, it's that stout.

Disclaimer: I do not recommend or endorse the beating of persons with a pistol. Long guns work better, but use what you have in a pinch.:what:

CZ, ruger, bersa, and the auto you like the most, no matter what you paid.
Even if your last gun was almost free, if it doesn't fit you and/or isn't reliable, you paid too much...

CZ-75B, have yet to get one, but soon.

Taurus PT-92/PT-99. An inexpensive Beretta you can carry cocked and locked, ...with a lifetime warranty.

Ruger Autos, tough but a little bulky.

KBI PMK .380. (Hungarian Walther PP copy with a few minor internal differences) Got mine new at a show years ago for $160

KBI High Power clone.

There are a few that are great values.....
The Makarov
The CZ-75, but I hear good things about the other's too
The Ruger P series...long trigger, but work truck's..like the P97!
The Sistema 1911
The Springfield 1911's
And though we are getting upwards in pricing...value means many things to many people..........
A Colt M1991A1
Sig Sauer P
Wilson KZ45 Full and Compact

Tough call ... "best value" could be said of just about any autoloader from one of the better manufacturers, if it is the one that works best for you.

But I'd say the following are priced low for what you get in performance (in random order):
- Makarov
- New and Used Steyr M-Series
- Used CZ (new prices have risen beyond what I would call "best value")
- Used Ruger P89/90/91/93/94 (new prices have risen beyond what I would call "best value")
- New and Used Ruger P95/97
- New and Used Bersa
- New Springfield WWII 1911
- Used S&W (especially the 3913, my personal favorite S&W)

I know CZ has tons of fans but those $300-$350 75B's never made it to any gunshops within 100 miles of my door in the last 4 years :( I saw two, both over $450 last week.

Ruger pistols are selling in area shops for around $150 less than the CZ's so Ruger takes the nod value wise my neck of the woods...

You can have your local FFL order one for you. Look on the many internet sights like Gunsamerica, Gunbroker, Auction Arms, etc. for the many dealers that have CZ's. No need to settle for Ruger. While I like their .22 autos, and .22 and centerfire revolvers, I don't think their centerfire autos compare to the CZ line.

Everybody has their opinions, but IMHO the Rugers will do anything anyother auto will do for twice the price.

Ron in PA, do you mean for half the price? I would also go with the Ruger P series. Or any Ruger for that matter. Got one of those MKII, .22, and I shoot it better than any other gun I have. Also like the 10/22 rifle for many reasons. I have the Taurus PT92 and really like it. I also have the Springfield Loaded 1911 and love to shoot that one.

Would like to have a CZ-75B, but haven't had a reason to get one yet. Although, that should be reason enough. :D

Any Makarov!

"currently manufactured". I doubt the Mak would be a sub 200FRN gun if someone was to tool up and make it now.

All I got is high value for dollar guns. Ruger fits the bill too.

Ruger P-series are good, definitely.

Very reliable and decently accurate (and according to some, the P90 is VERY accurate)

Don't expect to carry one though - the dang things are HUGE and blocky. Sub-par trigger, too.

Considering how cheaply you can get one new with Ruger's factory rebate, though, I have to say they are probably the best value in "service" autos out there.

CZ is better in terms of ergonomics and accuracy, but you'll probably pay a fair amount more for it.

Bersas and Makarovs are awesome values as well, but they are "just" blowback .380s.

a CZ75. It is fortunate for me that it also represents a best value for the money.

I agree with most of what the others have posted as well. Except for Rugers. They are cheap and reliable but they just don't deliver things like a fast sight picture, comfortable grips, frame mounted controls, etc. etc.

Save Your money get an CZ or an XD or a sistema. With these three you get a world class gun. Rugers just ain't WORLD class in my book. They are more like Missouri Class. :p

Hmmm..

I was originally a bit offended by that, but considering the current state of our CCW law, way overpriced handguns at shops, and a dealer last week offering to get me a Spingfield Champion at RETAIL price+ $40 shipping + $40 more for a "transfer fee" (sic), plus tax, +10% ("so he would make a little off it") as a great deal. Maybe were not a "world class" handgun state.

Ruger's work, are cheap, and hold up. Missourians work cheap and are often held up in the St Louis area...Maybe a fair comparison;)...

I agree with most others, but would only add that in addition, though I have not owned one personally, the Star Firestars (used) appear to be very good values. My buddy had one in 9x19, and it shot great, had a nice fit and finish, and was dirt cheap.

no offence meant. Where I'm from, we don't have much to look down on so we pick on missouri. Some of my favorite people live in missouri. At least our highways are better. Of course I could be from any state and say that. :)

I'm going to have to say CZs and any used gun that turns out to perform as it should, higher risk but lower price on a used gun. In a new gun, CZ takes the cake.

For a polymer gun, Springfield XD.
For an all metal gun, CZ-75 of sorts.

I think the above two are pretty much the creme of the Value crop. They are also pretty much the two guns gaining the most momentum.

For a gun that doesn't cost much coin, the Mak is very hard to beat.
For a fun gun that doesn't have to hold any responsibility duty wise... CZ-52.

cz-52. with this gun if you miss the sound will scare them of but if you hit you really hit.
