I have a sportsman on a Beeman R9,
It is very bright edge to edge, the target style turrets ar great, With thousands of rounds through this air rifle the vertical adjustment has held return to zero perfectly, there are a lot of scopes out there that are more expensive but few in the price range can compare. It is definitley a quality scope !

I bought a BSA 4x with good, wide lenses; comes with translucent covers and has great windage/elevation adjustment screws (but without mounting rings): $25 at WalMart.
If you're willing to spend around $50, WMart has the CentrePoint 3-9x, illuminated reticle w/pop-open lens covers, neoprene scope sleeve, and two batteries and GREAT mounting rings that fit the mounts that come with the 10/22. Have one on a much bigger rifle, it's very cool.

I haven't had to buy a scope in probably 15 years but used to be you couldn't beat a Tasco for the money. I've got a Tasco 3x9x32 on my 10/22 Sporter and it's a good scope. But then, I've got a Bushnell 3x9x32 on my Marlin 39A and I like it as well.
Yeh, I know it's probably overkill, that all I need is a 4x but what the heck.
I wouldn't mess with the cheap 15 or 20 objective .22 scopes. The ones I have used are crap.

I put a 4x Nikon ProStaff scope on my Ruger 10/22. It cost around $100.
