My girlfriend's husband died in February (don't ask).
We moved into this vacated house, because it was larger, and in a so-called "Safe" neighbourhood.
I've been woken up to my o'er the road neighbour's car being stolen.
We've got a dead taxi driver (shot)
A dead ex-serviceman (shot)
A dead shopkeeper (shot)
And several dead civillians (shot)
In an area about 3 kilometres a side, in the last 8 months.
So.... how do you make guns more illegal?
Gah. And "Grrr!"", too.

I'd say you need to trade in those kilometres on miles.

So … how do you make guns more illegal?
I guess that depends on where you live.

:(
for what it's worth, we have craziness over here to. Doesn't seem to be random or robbery or the like usually though -- domestic-type stuff tops our list I think.
Well, and once every other year or so some modern-day yahoo thinks it's a good idea to tool around downtown taking potshots. Our police marksmen are two for two I think. Dang cops are so good they get 'em before the townsfolk can even pull out the .30-'06s from the pickups. :)
so.. when y'all coming over to civilized country?

You didn't say where your from but I can assume you aren't in the states since you used KM instead of miles. When you outlaw guns, only the outlaws will have guns. Something like that.
Criminals are criminals because they do not obey the law. That's what gun-grabbers cannot get through their thick skulls. We (honest people) aren't the threat. Bad guys are. Not gonna change it by making guns illegal.

Yes, sorry, I missed that little fact out - I live near London in the UK. Where, as you say, Great Britain used to be.
Gah... sorry about that, really - I'm just kind of venting. Feeling a mite powerless over the sheer stupidity of all this.

Now that I know you’re in the U.K., all I can really suggest is the prohibtion of opposable thumbs. Subjects should have to demonstrate a proven need for these highly dangerous digits.

Might a crossbow or longbow work?
they may take a bit more skill but I have found them effective on vermin!
Then again I'm not sure how the land of Robin of the Woods has limited these forms of art!

Might a crossbow or longbow work?
Y'see, that's not the problem. Although, from a strictly practical standpoint, quarrels and arrows have a tiny overpenetration problem so gaguing the eventual parking spot of said projectile can be a bit difficult.
No, the problem is that criminals get to stab, shoot and generally maim their way through life. After all, they're criminals already. Whereas if one tries to defend oneself and one's bits 'n' pieces, then you suddenly find yourself a criminal yourself in the eyes of the law.
Funny isn't it, though, how to actually have something worth defending, one tends to need to work hard, spend wisely, safe dilligently and generally do the less exciting things in life. All you need to do in the UK to lose all that is to actually try to defend it. Ho hum....

Bog when and if enough people come to the same conclusion that you have changes will be made. Nothing happens until the everyday man and woman get fed up and tell the anointed ones how it is going to be. If things are bad enough it might take examples but generally self preservation is an elected critters natural habitat.

Maybe it's the ghost of your girlfriend's husband narrowing down his search for you.
