which lee handprime shellholder does the 9 mak need...the groove,or rim is deeper than 9 luger, is that any problem or do they use the same shell holder? also, is it worth it to get a lee case length gauge/trimmer for either?

Lee lists both the #19 and #6 hand primer shell holders as fitting the 9mm Luger. The #19 is supposed to be the better fit.
They don't list a shell holder for the hand priming tool for the 9mm MAK.
The MAK die set comes with a #19 press shell holder, so that might work in the hand prime shell holder size too.

I forgot to mention you don't normally need to trim straight wall auto pistol cases.
The taper crimp used on them is not length critical like a revolver roll crimp.

The 9X18 case head is 0.002" less in diameter than the 9X19. The diameter of the 9X18 at the web is only 0.001" less.
Before brass for the 9X18 was widely available, I used to make Mac cases by trimming down and sizing Luger cases.
I use the same shell holder and shell plate for both cartridges.
