Are there now, or have there ever been, mass production revolvers with manual safeties? If so, who made them, where were they made, and why was the safety added?

Pictures of such revolvers would be appreciated. I'm curious to see what it would look like.

Had a cheap knock-off of the Colt SAA in .22LR/.22Mag during the early 80's. The model was "Buffalo Scout", but don't remember who made it. Had a little safety thing that blocked the hammer from hitting the firing pin, as I sort of very vaguely recall.

holding gun in firing position, this litle tab was "flicked" on/off, located on left side

There have been revolvers made by most of the bigger companies that have had safeties, mostly for exporting situations or specialized contracts I believe. I've seen Pictures of Smiths and Rugers, and heard of but not seen a Colt. I'm not sure if these were installed by the factories themselves or from an aftermarket location however. On the Smith I saw it looked much like another cylinder release, but on the other side if I remember correctly.

Sounds like feathers on a fish to me.
