Hi,

I am handloading 7.62x39mm russian ammo. I ran out of Hodgdon H335 powder. Only thing I have left is Hodgdon H380, Accurate 2520 and Accurate 2495

For the life of me I cannot find any loads for these powders to go with the 7.62x39mm. Are these powders compatible with this cartridge?? Any help please?? Thank you! :banghead:

Welcome to THR.

They are all too slow burning to work well. Reference your manual for alternatives, if you cannot find more H335.

If you can find some IMR4198 or H4198 that will work well in the 7.62X39. If you have some IMR3031 around you're using for the .223 or 30-30 it will work in the 7.62X39 too. You can give Reloader 7 a try too.

AA#1680 is the bee knees for 7.62x39mm for me, if you can find some, great stuff.

as is N-120

With all my rifles these two powders have been the top performers with 125grn or lighter bullets. H335 works well and can produce some excellent groups but is too slow and bulky to get the most out of the aforementioned bullet weights.
