Thinking about getting a Steyr M series, not sure which caliber. Any info, opinions, etc. are appreciated.

They are overlooked jewels.

One of the lead designers working for Glock left and went to work for Steyr and came up with these.

They are a lot nicer than a Glock.

Thanks, thats kind of the impression I got from searching around here and on the web. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out much about them beyond that, as not a whole lot is written about them. I haven't seen anything negative about them, and that's kinda what I'm on the lookout for.

Get one while you can.

Steyr stopped importing them into the USA.

Some people think highly of them. They could be found for a song, for a while.

I wouldn't mind one.

I own two Steyrs - an old S9 and an M357. I got mine after shooting a friend's M40. Another friend tried my S9, and within a year had an M40 and an M9.

In other words, they're great pistols, and just one time out with them will usually convince you. Unfortunately, Steyr completely bungled their marketing here in the States, and as noted above has decided to just give up on the market. CDNN bought the whole lot of remaining stock, and last I heard had the M series on sale for $349 each. At this price they're a steal. (SAI will be continuing to support the brand in terms of parts & repair - not that any of mine or my friends have ever needed a lick of work.)

Good luck -

Jim D.
