I work 10 hour shifts for the local S.O. in Orlando so when it's slow, the topics of conversation are widely varied.

The other day, 2 of my female co-workers were discussing their sleeping arrangements with their husbands.

In both cases, the husband slept on the bed between the wives and the bedroom door.

Both ladies agreeed that this was probably a male trait, the men putting themselves between their spouse and any threat.

They asked me the question and I told them that I sleep on the far side of the bed, and my wife is between me and the bedroom door.

They thought this was unusual, so I told them that my method of protecting my spouse was the S&W .45 on the night-stand, and, in the event of some mutant kicking in my front door, if the spouse didn't move fast enough, I was going to use her for cover!

Am I a great husband or what?!

HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

:D

When my ex-girlfriend spent the night, she would sleep on the outside for two reason. The first was tactical. The way my apartment is set up I only have enough room for a book case right next to the bed and it's pretty much the only place for my firearm. If I slept on the outside I would have to crawl over her to get to it. The second reason is because she would always get up at least once to use the bathroom. That meant crawling over me and inadvertantly kneeing me in the groin and waking me up.

Breeders - I'll never, ever understand straight people. . .

:D

I sleep closest to the door because I'm a very, VERY light sleeper! I'm always the one who gets up in the night to investigate out-of-place sounds. Too, with Susan's schedule with her day job and Rescue, when she actually does (on the rare occasion) get a full 6-7 hours of sleep, she doesn't need me disturbing her when I go to 'Orange.'

:scrutiny:

Sounds to me like a Saint Bernard would suit you better. . .

:neener:

'Cause I'm just one recruit shy of the free toaster oven!

(I'm AMAZED your wife didn't put you in intensive care when you told her you said that!)
