I want to get into competition but don't know that much about which ones I should/can compete in with my Dan Wesson PM9 1911 (9mm) handgun. I don't feel like making any mods to it and just leave it stock. Any suggestions on which competition(s)/division(s)?

As suggested, IDPA in ESP, or USPSA in 1911 Single Stack.
You'll score minor in USPSA, but you'll get to load up your mags to hold 10 rds, which the major-scoring folks cannot do. (they can only load 8 in mag)
