in the south, whether hunting, gun range, boating, woods-bumming, fishing, etc., from April through October, in addition to the "always" items (pocket knife, multi-tool, I-phone, keys, wallet, CCW pistol):
1. 50 SPF Sunscreen
2. 40% Deet
3. Leupold Yosemite 6x30mm lightweight porros, with body harness
4. Water/Juice/Lemonade bottles
5. (in the pickup) "Medicine Chest" in a big plastic bag with all manner of medications/pain killers, *including* Tecnu or similar urushiol-bonding anti-poison-ivy potion.
Honorable mention to Black Bear "Bear Cub" flashlight, if overnight is involved.
Just throwin it out there - have a good time and be safe & smart this summer, kiddos. :D
