I have since taken it to the range twice. The first time was simply to function fire it. I learned that day that it did not like high velocity. Federal Bulk Pack came off the extractoor pretty much every shot. So did CCI Blazer. Winchester Wildcat performed slightly better- functioning about 80% of the time. CCI Standard Velocity seemed to function just fine. I was only shooting about 36', but it was clear to me that this rifle has accuracy potential.

Yesterday, I got it back to the range. Starting at about 60 feet, I fired a few shots to check zero, with the old gray box (low velocity) Winchester XPERTs. The rifle functions them very well. I circled those three shots in red. I made a rear sight adjustment and fired several shots into the black (the lower black shots). I let a family member take a few shots. Most of the shots circled in blue he fired (combination of 60 feet and 25 yards). I moved the target back to 25 yards, and fired some Winchester Dynapoints (40 gr, std velocity, copper plated HP) through it. They functioned perfectly, and shot more or less to point of aim. They are up at the upper black. I compensated a little too much for the drop from the lower velocity XPERTS (I believe those are subsonic or close to it).

All the shots were fired off hand, without a sling (I have one on the rifle, but it has too much slack to serve as a support- I need to get a more appropriate sling).

I am considering changeing the extractor and extractor spring. When it works, it is strong, however I would not be surprised if that is the cause for its disdain for high velocity ammo.

Now that I have to zero pretty much down, and the ammo issue solved, I just need to get a solid sling on this rifle. I'm sure it will be a great shooter.
