1858rem May 27, 2009, 03:31 PM im looking into a new ---MILLENNIUM PRO™ 145 .45 ACP POLYMER PISTOL IN MATTE STAINLESS STEEL--- for a pretty good price but would like to know what velocity i can expect with standard loads from a 3.25" barrel.
has anyone done some chrono work with a similar barrel length 45 auto. what is the hottest you would consider safe to load a lead 200-230g bullet in a taurus?
any help appreciated please and thank you

loadedround May 27, 2009, 03:51 PM You can expect to lose from 50 to 100 FPS per inch in 45 ACP barrels. You can do the math. :)
JDGray May 27, 2009, 04:17 PM My carry load of 7gr Power Pistol, 230gr XTPs, gives me 816fps from my 3" Kimber, & 875fps out of a 5" barrel. 60fps loss with 2" less barrel.(YMMV):)
The Bushmaster May 27, 2009, 04:42 PM 7.6 grains of WSF under a 185 grain HP/XTP gives me 850 fps from my Kimber 3". And almost 950 fps from my Colt 1911 with Wilson match S/S barrel.
rcmodel May 27, 2009, 04:51 PM April handloader just ran a test of three Kimbers. Two were 5" and one was 3".
Average velocity of 8 loads for the two 5" guns was 835 & 830 FPS.
The 3" averaged 722 FPS.
