Four consecutive targets shot this morning at 300 meters with a factory Savage .308, Model 12.. The first three are 5 shot groups and the fourth is a 10 shot group. The best was the first one at 1.123 center-to-center. Double-click the pic to make it bigger

What kind of ammo? Handloads?

Xmanpike: You'll have to take it up with our range. That's how it was set-up years ago.

CoRoMO: Those are my loads. Lapua brass; Berger 150 grain bullets; 46.5 grains of Varget; Fed 210M primer. Bullets are seated .010" off the lands.

Just messin' with ya. Nice shooting. What kind of scope?

Jayhawker

Xmanpike: I know you were.:) And I have to admit, I don't have a clue why they did it that way and in Western Kansas of all places. It messes with trying to figure MOA. I think a MOA at 300 meters is 3.45" but I'm not sure. With this being a factory rifle (except for an S&S trigger) my goal has always been to try to be happy with less than one MOA at whatever range.

The scope is a Nikon Monarch, 6.5x20.

Good shooting. I think the model 12 is one of the best values in a rifle you can get.

1 MOA at 300 meters is 3.45". Great shooting. Nice to see a 10 shot group. At 300 yards I'm not sure how much of the results are the shooter or the rifle but it certainly shows a good representation of where a bullet would land with you behind the trigger. Great work.

Iron sights or scope? Good shooting!! The army went to shooting shiloutes and minute of man became the standard. Sad situation, that is why our marksmanship is so poor.

Scoped. That model Savage doesn't have sights. And I'd be lucky to even hit the target board at that range with iron sights.
