Here is a letter I got from our friends at Wisconsinconcealedcarry.com:

"Dear PPA Supporter,

Senate Bill 214, the Personal Protection Act, passed our committee on
Monday, October 13 by a vote of 3-2. The bill now awaits action by the
full
Senate. We expect to have a Senate floor debate on SB 214 on
Wednesday,
October 22.

We need your help, urgently. Here's why:

Our bill is under constant threat of being watered-down to the point of
making it completely ineffective. We've already amended the bill to
allow
private businesses and property to post signs prohibiting law-abiding
citizens from carrying concealed weapons. We've also amended the bill
to
allow employers to prohibit their employees from carrying a concealed
weapon
while on the job.

These concessions should have satisfied the desire of certain
establishments
to prevent the law-abiding among us to carry. These amendments allow
places
and employers to choose whether they want to allow people the security
of a
concealed weapon. But they're continuing to push for an outright
prohibition on guns, period. That's completely unacceptable.

The more places that BAN law-abiding citizens from carrying their guns,
more
useless this bill becomes. What good is the "right to carry" if you
can't
have a gun in most places? You couldn't carry from your home to Place
A and
then to Place B because one might prohibit you from carrying.

Opponents of concealed carry think that under this bill, law-abiding
permit
holders will cause crimes. Everyone needs to get past that
ill-conceived
notion and look at the facts. Experience in 45 other states shows that
law-abiding permit holders are not the problem!

Here's how you can help:

Call your legislators immediately. If you don't know who they are,
call the
Legislative Hotline at 1-800-362-9472.

Tell them NOT to water down the concealed carry bill.

Tell them that YOU are a trustworthy, law-abiding cizizen that can be
TRUSTED WITH A GUN, just like the people in 45 other states.

Tell them that any more amendments will weaken the bill.

If you haven't done so yet, now is the time to call. Most legislators
have
a toll-free number. Find that number on www.legis.state.wi.us

Call now. Send emails. Write letters. Get your like-minded friends
and
family to do the same. If we fail now, it'll be another 3 years before
we
try again (i.e. after Governor Doyle's term is up).

Senator Dave Zien
Chairman
Senate Committee on Judiciary, Corrections & Privacy
(608) 266-7511"
