whats your thought on the makarov and other low priced defensive peaces?

like the charter arms snubbies, bersa .380, keltk p32 p3at........ect...

whats your choice for a defensive handgun under $200.00 and why that particular one?

I own two Makarovs, bought one for $189, pristine condition with holster and extra mag. Bought the other one for $129, some finish wear with extra grips.

I like them both. Nice comfortable shooters, amazingly accurate, easy to clean, and cheap ammo. No misfeeds or problems. I don't actually consider my Maks daily carry pieces, but I would certainly grab one without hesitation to defend my life. They will fire every time.

I have an older Charter Arms .38 snubbie with original wood grips. Bought it used for $175. What's not to like except for the recoil? It's lightweight, and fits nicely in a pocket holster. I would still carry it if it held more than five rounds. No problems ever with this older model, but I watched a guy next to me at the range last month trying to get a newer one to lock up correctly and fire. It was totally out of sync.

Heard good things about the Bersa Thunder, but have never fired one. No experience with Kel-Tec P-32's either, but I love my P11 and P-40's.

If I had to stay under $200 for a carry gun I would carry the Charter Arms.

Thanks Stephen. Good links. I've read them before, but it's nice to see them again. As in the first article, I've bought a couple of S&W .357 model 19's for around $200 each. I don't fire them much, but they make great guns to stash where you might need one in a pinch. Hey Stephen, weren't we just talking about Flechettes on another forum?
