seems like we got a hoppes-hater...

i don't know what's bad about it, i love the smell! perhaps a bit strong like gasoline or something, but i like that smell too.:D I tell ya, if i met a gal smelling like #9, i'd be asking her out (to the range, maybe) real quick!

Some of the newer hoppes smells horrible compared to the old stuff.

45 some odd years ago I opened my first bottle of Hoppes. Maybe it smells better now. I don't use it. I had some kind of cloth I used to clean a brass framed percussion pistol I had. It's the only thing I ever smelled worse. Except for this guy at work named Curt.

I have a little bottle of CLP but it's not the same. I go through quarts of No. 9.

Every gun room should smell like Hoppe's No. 9. Mine does. When I was a kid, my grandfather's did, and that dates back a half-century.

I agree, except his name is richard. I really don't mind it but my wife can't stand it. She complains that it stinks up the house worse than my work boots. I clean my guns on the back porch to keep the peace.

Hoppes is nice, but I'm pretty partial to the smell of Butch's Bore Shine. Nothing tingles the nostrils like Butch's!
