Mine arrived today, just past 90 days after application. So, if you applied around the end of February, you shouldn't have much longer to wait.

Funny thing is, two co-workers who took the same class and submitted their applications several days before me are still waiting.

Your mileage may vary,

I recently talked to one of my customers who is at 4 and a half months waiting. That's a long time.

Mine expires in a little over a year. I'm trying to decide when I should go renew it.

I'd suggest getting renewal class done as soon as letter/packet recieved from Austin (typically 5 to 6 months before expiration). Better to get it "in the system" early, so a little extra time available if fingerprints get rejected initially or some such ...

I agree with greybeard. I renewed my license 2 months before it expired. Turned in all the paperwork, wated 2 months before getting a letter holding my application because there were some streaks in my submitted photos. I got new passport pictures (I thought they looked worse), then got the CHL in the mail a month later.

I agree, get it renewed as soon as you get your packet in. I waited to send mine in last year 2 months before it expired and I had to go a week without carrying before I got my new CHL.

Purposely reviving an old thread to share current wait times. Please post your current dates so that others waiting have a good reference point. Mine took 30 calendar days to process. Today is Thursday, I should see it in the mail Saturday since I live here in Austin. Not bad. I had no arrests and no psych evals so I'm sure that cuts down on wait time. My Brother-in-law had 2 arrests in the 70's so his took about 4 months. But that was also during the election craze last year.

3/13/10 CHL Class taken
3/16/10 Dropped Application off at DPS (I live in Austin)
3/26/10 Received PIN in mail
3/29/10 "Application Processing"
4/15/10 "Completed Application - License Issued"
