My Dillon 500 stopped this AM with a hot motor. I got it in 1999, so it's had a long and productive life, but I was wondering if it was covered by the fabulous Dillon lifetime warranty ??

Anybody know?

Motor is one year warranty. Other parts are lifetime. Call Dillon. They will sell you a motor for a reasonable price.

FWIW, I have a Dillon 550B loading press, and Dillon backs them up with a no BS warranty. With that said, it's sad they don't have the same confidence in their tublers. Consider yourself lucky that yours lasted as long as it did, as mine only lasted a little more than a year. "Hence a one year warranty" The problem with the motor in general is that the rubber washers surrounding the bearings (the the most part the one on the wobble weighted end) wears thin, and the motor arbor starts to wobble to the point that it will rub against the field housing, which will eventually quit. IMO a poor design. LM

It's funny I tried to do this and their responce was; "I would have to send the tumbler to them and they would install the motor", as they would NOT let me install the motor myself! Of course I would have to pay for the motor as well as my shipping. I figured it would cost over $50 to do this and for that much I could just buy a new Lyman ot Frankford Arsanal for that much!

I had the same issue about 2 months ago. I sent in in and had it back in 2 weeks (may be a new one as the box was new and I have never seen mine so shiny). $36 total.

I don't think Dillon has control over the motor's, hence they limit the warranty! Pretty fair poikicy!

Yes, if they don't make it, then the lifetime warranty doesn't apply.

If the motor still hums but won't turn, the oil in the motor bearings has dryed and seized. Oil it and all will be well. If it won't even hum, the windings have melted down so the motor will have to be replaced.

Call Dillon.

Likely from whom you'll receive the best answer and final resolution. For the twenty three years I've used their products, not once have I been dissatisfied with their warranties or customer service. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a62/lakcaJLOpe/thumbs.gif

(The same, a shameless plug for RCBS while I'm at it. :D:neener:)
