I have a older 500 28'' vent ribbed 6 shooter that im wanting to use for HD. Do I buy a different one or replace barrels on this one or what, Can I replace both mag tube and barrel and get a 9 shooter is this possible? Any help suggestions would be appreciated. And I would like to stay with a 500 or 590 top safety and all. Thanks

The cheapest is to find a shorter replacement barrel and leave the 6 shot magazine . You can look for a slug barrel, and old select-a-choke barrel and cut it to a shorter length, or a regular riot barrel for the 6 shot mag tube.
You can replace the mag tube to a higher capacity model and purchase a compatable barrel but the cost I think would be such that you may as well look for the riot model.

The 18-1/2" cylinder bore plain with bead sight barrel is $74, for the 6-shot or 8-shot Model 500, and you can buy direct from Mossberg. Your local Mossberg dealer may have it a bit cheaper.
