So I heard a rumor that ammo prices had gone down. I was on cheaper than dirts website and I came across this discription for "Ammo .223 DRT 79 Grain 20 Round Box "Dead Right There" Loaded in Military Brass". Here is the link http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM268-5.html

Here is the description;

"DRT "Dead Right There!" This ammo has been hush, hush for over four years, during the testing phases, the elite military and law enforcement agencies couldn't believe what they were seeing as they shot the DRT ammunition. Now it is the only ammunition used to protect high profile individuals. The most amazing part of this ammunition is the compressed powder core, as it passes into the body it dissipates causing instant death. The core powder is as fine as talcum powder. When it contacts the organic target, the powder is spinning at such a high rate it instantly disperses, resulting in Instant Death. A full 100% energy dissipation as the bullet totally disappears into invisible dust. This is the most accurate and deadly ammo we have ever shot. This ammunition is used world wide to protect citizens and eliminate terrorists. DRT, Dead Right There!"

Instant Death? really?

Wow, this stuff really unleashes the awesome killing potential of tiny particles of metal powder!

This, folks, is what happens when you get a drunk intern to write a description of frangible ammo. Well, their ad copy at least gets points for shear, bloodthirsty tackiness.

I sent them an email pointing out how mall ninja-ish their description was. Hopefully they rethink that one. otherwise the media might think we are all buying magical instant death ammo.

That ad copy has nothing to do with CTD and everything to do with DRT - they're the ones who supply the ad copy to the retailers. CTD just inserts the manufacturer hype into the page mill, and turns the crank.

If you read the reviews, you'll notice that at least six people have actually purchased this stuff.

This one's my favorite. I hope it's schtick, but there really could be somebody this pathetic out there.

I tire quickly from all the armchair reviews, by the keyboard commando's. This is COMBAT/SHOOTER ammunition, and if you plan on killing something, then this is your round. Real Deal Death... For the Paper Punchers, stick with your Match ammo, which BTW will not produce a kill at your 500-800 meter expectations. At 200 meters this will kill instantly...

A rifle bullet really does spin at 150,000 rpm or more, but it still rotates at the rifling twist, so in the body it turns only once (assuming the body is 10-12 inches thick). This puts the lie to the nonsense about expanding bullets doing a "buzz saw" in the body, and I think it casts doubt on those iron particles as well. Sounds like hype to me. Also, the energy and penetrating power of particles as fine as talcum has to be subject to some question.
