Crazy idea for handgun design improvement

Guys, is it just me, or would others like to see this:
A pistol with integrated padded "interior" for strong side carry (i.e. on the left side), in the rear slide and grip areas. I'm sick of an IWB-carried pistol jamming into my kidney area while driving, making even the shortest trips very uncomfortable. How's about a very contoured, and padded design with a modern material that is soft, durable, and grippy since it's in the grip area - just something to take the sharp edges off where they dig into your abdomen. Things like the safety/decocker can be solved with a holster that has an interior piece there, but the attention is needed mostly along the grip, particularly the bottom rear of the grip. Would you buy it if made?

I agree that for some reason the people who make guns & holsters often seem to be ignorant of how they're going to be used/worn/carried.
That said, I would probably be more likely to try to solve the problems you mention with a "sweat shield" on the IWB holster rather than modifications to the design of the firearm.

Honestly I buy handguns based on how they fit the hand ... and solve the issues of how they fit my waist with holsters.
Not to say that there is no consideration given to things sticking out of the side of the gun, but streamlining the gun and making it ergonomic for carry aren't the same thing at all.
If you could design a handgun for comfortable IWB carry, with nothing sticking out and no need for a padded holster, it still wouldn't be one size fits all.

The Nerf gun eh?
Can see big drawbacks being grippy nerfy material vs. solvents oils and perspiration. That and carrying nerf in the first place. ;)
Seriously overly soft grips, just like on motorcycles would be replaced regularly. If you're willing to put up with that I see no reason why someone couldn't make 'soft' grip panels.

Yeah, that's a start, but it has to go around the *corners* of the bottom of the grip or it won't accomplish the goal. Yes, the nerf gun - exactly. :)

Ok a nerf sock then?
Like a Houge slip-on grip, only nerf.
Try using a wrist/sweatband and see how that works as a stop-gap measure.

Maybe you should carry your gun under your skirt. :D

No.
It would impede a full firing grip.

What about this? Isn't this kind of what your talking about? For the grip anyhow?
