How to deburr a gas-port

What is the process used to remove any burr that might be left in the rifling of a barrel that gets it's gas port enlarged? Or do reamers just not leave burrs that are substantial enough to worry about?
TIA,
Saands

Are you speaking about an AR-15? Reamers do leave burrs even when sharp although that burr might not be anything to be concerned about. Generally speaking, firing the rifle will remove the burr after just a few shots. If you use an extremely dull burr, you might encounter pressure problems the first few rounds, but just don't use WOLF ammo and you should be alright. This self-deburring was witnessed by makers fo the M-16 rifle which actually stepped up the cyclic rate by chamfurring the hole after several thousand rounds.

Actually I should have mentioned that it was an SKS. I have a damaged one that I think can be reclaimed if I just lose a couple of inches off of the muzzle, but I'm thinking that it will probably want a little larger gas port to make up for the reduced exposure to pressure. I haven't really taken one completely apart, so there may be another restriction that can be relieved, but somehow I think that it will probably involve a reamer into the barrel.
How did they chamfer the port on the inside??????? All I can imagine is some sort of ultra-miniturized spinning boring bar:confused:

In the early days of the imported SKS's - before the short barrel models came to this country. I was bored one day and looking at 5 well used SKS's on my racks . I took the worst looking one and grabbed my hacksaw - cut the barrel to 16&1/2 inches and stepped outside to see wether it would function. It did - and worked flawlessly. You may not have to worry about opening up the gas port . If you do , I don't think the small possible burr created should give you any trouble and will take care of itself in a few rounds. ( imho ).

I second what MNRIVRAT says. SKS Will work fine with stock port and legal-length barrel. Reaming the gas port is unnecessary as we've stated earlier. Cut, crown, enjoy!

I'll third the Minnesota River Rat's proclamation.
