I just got back from the new range just SE of Nashville. It opened this morning. I was there when the first shot was fired. I didn't do any shooting today just hung out and talked and checked it out. It is REALLY nice. It costs $4 for 2 hours or you can get a yearly membership. I am going shooting there tomorrow.

How crowded was it?

When I left, it wasn't even half full. I had my dog with me and some guy was shooting a really big boomer and she was going nuts when it went off, so I left before I really wanted to.

I've been waiting for this one to open. I kept hearing different dates as to when it will open. If this is the one I'm thinking about it's about ten mins. away from me. If it isn't the Long Hollow one, where is it located and what's the name of it?

It's on Hobson Pike, out by Long Hunter State Park. I didn't even read the

sign out by the road so I don't know the name. You can't miss it though.

If you're going towards Mt Juliet on Hobson Pike It's on the right before you get to the bridge across the lake.

If I had any ammo, or didnt spend all my money already this weekend Id join ya Ronnie. Maybe we need to make it the location of the next shoot, if there is enough space. I will be swinging out that way sometime soon tho, other than on the other side of town, closest for most any of us

I've been watching and waiting for this one to open. The news ( chan 4) had a good spot about it. We need to have some way to recognize each other ( hat, patch, ? flag? ) so when more than one is there we'll have a chance to meet. I know there has been some mention of this. Its a cool looking range and not too far from my location. I'm certainly hoping to get over there some.
Mark.

We went to look yesterday, and I told Cslinger that it would most likely take care of most of our rifle and pistol shooting when weather is nice. It's right after the bridge over Percy Priest Lake, coming from Wilson county to Davidson county, on the left hand side. It's 14 minutes from our house. It has 50 ft handgun lanes, 50 yard, 100 yard, and 200 yard rifle lanes. We think it had 25 yard rifle lanes as well. Target stands are set, they said they would give us 2 free targets to begin with. The 200 yard lanes are pretty cool, there is a hill in between, they put two huge tubes in the hill, and you are shooting through them.

It is a cold range, no loaded guns except at the firing line. Looks very nice, we were there at 4 pm on Saturday on opening weekend, and it was not crowded. Seems that they had more RO's than shooters.

Chris asked if there were any limitations on what you could shoot there (because there were rumors of no EBR's and only FMJ allowed). They said, "Well, anything really, you know, no bazookas".

Sounds pretty good for the THR gatherings if we are ok with a LOT of RO's. $4.00 for 2 hours or $100.00 per year membership is not too bad.

I think that's about it.

Is this the range owned and operated by the TWRA?

einnor, thanks for the info. I have a bro-in-law situated over in that area who is looking for a place to shoot.

Yes it is a TWRA range.

I can't wait to try it out. I looks extremely nice and it is in our back yard. No more 45-60 minute trips to the range. I just wish it was open during the week but beggers and choosers and all that.

well at the Cheatham range (twra) they imposed a no full metal jacket ammo rule as well as a no full auto rule.

Look for that in your not too distant future.

Just got back from the new range. It is really nice. We shot a couple hundred rounds thru the 45, a couple of hundred thru the 38, and about a hundred thru the mini-14. The range officers are nice guys. They let you shoot for 15 minutes then the range goes cold for 10 minutes. This lets you change your target and pick up your brass. They give you 2 targets when you pay your fee. The range will handle about 100 people and it wasn't a third full. They want you to keep up with how many rounds you shoot in each caliber so they know how much lead is in the berms. The only problem I saw was they were slow as crap checking people in. We waited probably 30 minutes and there was only 5 people in front of us. This will probably get better after they get the procedure down. If you go be sure to have some kind of ID. They require it. This place is really nice. Middle Tennessee is very lucky to have something like this.

well at the Cheatham range (twra) they imposed a no full metal jacket ammo rule as well as a no full auto rule.

They didn't say anything about FMJ rounds. When we were leaving someone was shooting a full automatic at the rifle range. As of now, pretty much anything is a go there.

the sign at cheatham county has been up for a long time saying no fmj and no full auto. but as there is no one there to inforce it.... the no fmj i think is more along the lines of they dont want AP ammo as since most the cheap ammo anymore is FMJ. oh well. Will have to check out the new place tho. Cheatham is still pretty conviente to me as spanky mcfly lives half way there, so just get in the car with him, and its on the way hom from clarksville many of the times.

sounds like a cool place tho. keeping up with things and picking up the brass...atleast they are trying to keep it clean. dont mind RO's as long as they are cool. sounds good for the 15 min shoot then 10 min of clear. even if that does cut in on your time a bit. Ill still do it.
