[Browns Fan]

This scope is designed for the SVD sniper rifle. Will it fit onto a basic AK47 or Saiga? Are the side mount for these rifles identicle? Is there a difference in how high it sits over the dust cover?

I think you can drill out the old mount and install a SVD style mount to a Saiga (think I remember talking to someone that did just that, but not sure). FWIW I wouldn't go through the effort of doing the conversion, just get the VEPR style or a conventional scope and P. rail mount for the side mount you already have. :)

Not really.

The easiest way to tell the difference between the mounts is the angles on the bottom rail. If you are putting a SVD rail on from the front, you're doing it wrong. There is a stop pin at the front that must be against the front edge of the rifle's rail to stop the scope from moving forward.

Many people are using a SVD mount on an AK rail. In which case, the ONLY way to get it on is from the front but the mount will loosen under recoil.
