I am looking for a .40 Revolver. I like the round and thought it would be nice to have wheel gun with the same round as my G23. I remember seeing on in a magazine once but cannot remember who made it.

Thanks all

Who else still tries to innovate when everybody else just sits and waits? Smith! 646. The old ones had some serious issues FWIH.

You can use the .40S&W with moon clips in revolvers chambered for the 10mm such as the S&W 610.

I would look at the M610; it has none of the reported problems the M646 had.

Also, Ruger makes a SA; if that trips your trigger.:D

The smith 610 would prolly be your best bet.

After they notice the Taurus models already sitting on the shelves!!!

The Taurus models are usually not on the shelves but in to Taurus being repaired under Taurus' admittedly excellent warranty! Dennis :banghead:

If size matters to you, the current S&W 646 with titanium cylinder is an L-frame gun whereas the 610 is an N-frame. The L-frame is noticeably more compact. I just handled one at a local dealer, and I was quite favorably impressed. The gun felt like a 686.

Taurus maynot be building the finest guns, but they are being innovative. Smith is following their lead these days.

Must be tough downing Taurus on a thread about a Smith reissue and the original was pulled from production for problems.

I'm looking at a 646 right now...what problems were reported?

Majic,

Who do you think makes better gun Taurus or S&W, and why? I've always thought Smith, but all my information about Taurus is second had, so what do I know?

The only Taurus' I seen were just copies of some other company, Beretta I think and maybe Smith. Am I mistaken or did Taurus copy Smith, or the other way around ?

Respectfully,

jkelly

As I recall there were two areas:
1. casings binding in the cylinders.
2. moon clips/case rim size fit.

This latest issue has not enough history to report on.
I was thinking of getting one and boring out the cylinder for 10mm and carring it with Silvertips. Nothing hotter however.

I handled one last week; it balances pretty nice in the hand.
