Went to a salvage yard today and found 1400 pounds of brass for sale at $1.50/pound. It is all Lake City '07 stamped. Some corroded a bit and a few mangled. I bought 40 pounds, my buddy bought 200 pounds. I'm going to see if my club will buy the rest for its members.

Load and test fire some first. The LC plant does some chemical testing on brass.http://www.army.mil/-news/2008/08/22/11859-ammunition-manufacturing-quality-control-crucial-to-success/

Army bases that shoots qualifications don't always save the brass, sometimes they dgive it away/throw it away. I have a friend who gets bags full of it from his friend in Ohio, doing just that.

I put the word out that it's at Sheboygan Salvage in Sheboygan. It is going fast. It is on 21st street, north of north avenue. I do not have a phone number. There are two scrap yards on the same block. It is the southernmost one. My guess is that it will be gone by Friday night.
