Patience, give it some time. Try to find a place that you can preorder from.

The mag issue is ridiculous. I finally decided to be the high bidder no matter what. I did buy 3. I am pleased to say that the rifle is so accurate that I can print my initials at 100yds. My advice is to get the mags while you can at whatever price.

Try here, they may have a few left:

I saw an add there for FN bolt action mags as well.

Is there a reason that FN designed a new mag for the rifle? Are they just 'night and day' better than regular .223 AR mags or what?

FNAR is a BAR (hunting rifle not military rifle) in .308 (that's FNAR as in BAR not AR15). They made proprietary mags because they are greedy I guess.

What does FnAR have to do with the .223AR mags?:uhoh:

Do you know what rifle people are talking about in this thread?

I sure didn't. I saw a photo of a rifle on the most recent Shotgun News (didn't buy it) and thought it was a folding-stock AR rifle. I must have (yeah, obviously! ;-)) misread. Sorry for the confusion!

Jaws said:Do you know what rifle people are talking about in this thread? The FN-AR (Fabrique Nationale - Autoloading Rifle, from FNH USA (http://www.fnhusa.com/le), is a .308 Win/7.62x51mm NATO police marksman rifle (or designated marksman rifle, DMR), not at all to be confused with a military sniper rifle (which often happens and causes sore points all around - don't go there!). It is available for USA public purchase. It is intended for 50 to few-hundred yards high-rate of aimed fire, stand-off support for law enforcement operations. It is relatively new, introduced in late 2008, only available in quantity in 2009, so controversy swirls as to its reliability, ruggedness, non-LE applications, etc., but everybody agrees that it is a highly accurate (sub-1 MoA factory guaranteed) and smooth-recoiling rifle (smooth for more rapid follow-up shots). It could be one of the best semi-auto .308s around (esp. for the money, ~$1400 give or take), but since it has minimal track record, don't go there either.

Early adopters of the FNAR are working out the bugs at FNAR area at FN-sponsored user web site (http://fnforum.net/viewforum.php?f=99&sid=85fc0faf1887b3a4fba12cffad3e8415) as well as on THR and elsewhere.

Here is a photo of my heavy barrel (HB) FNAR at this page or nearby on same thread (http://fnforum.net/viewtopic.php?p=96762#96762) (same user_name). Photos are also here on THR; search on posts by me, jackdanson, gga338, ARLover and others; sorry I can't recall all OTMH.

Fine rifle. I think you should buy one.

Is there a reason that FN designed a new mag for the rifle? Are they just 'night and day' better than regular .223 AR mags or what? Yeah, really! And how come they didn't just use Remington 742 mags? Or why not SKS clips? Oh wait ... it's a completely different rifle! :o

Essentially it is a dumbed-down version of the old BAR, fitted with an aluminum receiver, multiple rails, no sights, and an angular, pistol-gripped, plastic stock.

Things being the way they are, they will no doubt sell like hotcakes.

The mag issue is ridiculous. I finally decided to be the high bidder no matter what.Oh, the irony!

Just picked up an FN AR today, these are monsters and when you hold it you're gonna lagh at Ar's. I still can't believe a BAR is sitting next to me... this thing is pretty much a BAR, only better and upgraded.

My local gun shop can get FN AR clips sent from other shops and there is one there now for 60 $ I got one spare, but really 20 rnds of 308... wow.

Better and upgraded?

A cheap plastic stock, lack of sights, and alumimum receiver are not improvements in my book. :scrutiny:

Actually, for a police precision rifle it makes a lot of sense. Hope the trigger is a good one.

Well it's very accurate, don't be a buzz kill.
