I'm having an issue with my lee progressive. When the case slider is pushing a new case into the holder, the bottom flips out and fails to enter the shell plate.

What did I do wrong? Help!

On what caliber do you see this?

Do you have the right cylinder plate or if you have the small case slider and are trying to load a taller shell ie 38 spl/357 mag this can happen. Look at this pic http://www.leeprecision.com/graphics/parts/2449.jpg

1. Try fewer cases in the tube. The weight of the column of cases in the tube tend to hold back the mouth of the bottom case.

2. As mentioned above, the height adjustment of the cylinder and plate (the black plastic pieces) is critical. Not too high or too low. Keep adjusting.

3. As mentioned above, are you using the right height slider?

All of the above. Like ants, I found the height adjustment is critical.

One other tip: if you haven't done a feeder cleanup, do it--and then use the STP trick as well--i.e., lube the bottom of the slider tongue.

Thanks for all the advice. I figured out a great solution: made the case slider taller with some shapelock. This stuff is awesome, and works perfectly for this solution.

I'm loading 40 cal for those interested. Thanks for the advice.

I had problems feeding 40SW. I have put a steel bushing into the bottom of the cylinder plate - similar to what the small feeder has. The bushing was cut from 22ga steel (.03" measured) of 1.61"x1.15" size, and bent over a long side around a drill bit of proper diameter to make it cylinder. Then I glued some plastic to the top of the slider to make it almost as high as a shell - about the same what you did.

40SW is the most unfortunate caliber for the case feeder. Both slider height and cylinder plate diameter are in the middle between Lee' large and small sizes.
