Blue Brick,I have one of them guns that Papaw left me years ago.It had a goofy looking home made stock on it and sat in a closet since 1985 since it was so ugly.

Last year I got it out and ordered a new stock from Numrich.I had to soak the polychoke in CLP for two days till it finally broke loose.The rest of the gun was kept wet with spray CLP for a while to get out the varnish like gunk on the inside.The bore is in great shape.

That screw that you had to take out to remove the bolt was the cause of a recall by Sears.They sold a lot of those guns that were made by H&R under the Sears name.Someone used one that the screw was missing on and when they cycled the bolt it came out and hit them in the eye.Sears recalled all of them and I believe offered either money or gift certificates for them.It was never a problem with the design,just someone either forgetting or losing the bolt retention screw.

Saw the pictures on your other post and you got a great looking gun.
