if the 1994 Ban isn't renewed ?...I've got some AR-15 and Glock 21 money saved up...I've even thought about those 30 round magazines for my Glock 17

.308's. No poodle shooters for me. M-14's and FAL's.

Really cheap used 10 round mags for my Glock for practicing. Maybe a 3rd 15 rounder.
The other guns I have that take high-caps, my FAL-wannabe and M17S, already have cheap and abundant magazines. So, the ban lifting will mainly effect future purchasing decisions.

I'd like to get a 9mm and will probably hold off to see if the ban lifts to decide which one to get first. Right now I'm leaning tward a compact or sub-compact but might get a full size if the ban lifts.

Some 16-rd mags for my P99. 20 and 30 rd too, if they become available. An AR-15 with flashhider that can take rifle grenades, so it's also a GL (double gasp!). Some of those really high quality HK mags for it, and a Beta-CMag or two. A Beretta 96 Inox with hi-and-regular-cap mags. A Benelli XM1014 with folding stock, pistol grip, and mag extension. Just fun stuff.

Actually, nothing on the AW list. I already have pre-ban versions of the ones I want and plenty of magazines.

Now, if they ever do away with the '86 machinegun ban, I'll have to take out a second mortgage and get a second job. :)

Nutin. In sterile California, ex-guvner Gray Davis & Atty Gen. Lockner have done enough harm to the gun loving public. Don't expect the Gubnerator to do any better for us either. McClintock lost. :(

Hmmm... Have pretty much all the FBPP's I want, none of my autopistols hold more than ten, never seen an 11+ round revolver speedloader...

I'll probably buy a Glock magazine as a show of support, or something...

(Or maybe I'll build a 20-round STI in .38 Super. That'd be pretty cool... )

First thing that I'm going to buy? A dozen (or so) HK G36 mags.

Next? I'll probably order a bunch of Glock 15, 17 & 32 rd. mags.

After that? I'll be saving up for a bunch of HK 93 and 94 mags.

"Really cheap used 10 round mags for my Glock for practicing. "

Good point. If the law is not renewed, they ought to be giving away the "post ban" magazines. I may buy them.
I already own all the other stuff that I want. Other than what HK said.

I'm going to buy several full capacity mags for my Steyr M40.

Although my 10 rounders will still be good for IDPA/IPSC because I imagine the rules won't change.

What am I going to get? More upset and jealous, that's what - I live in Kalifornistan. CA AWB will still stand.

Read my tagline :D

I'm gonna load as much "junk" as I can onto my SAR-1... side- or under-folding stock, bipod (without worrying), holosight, etc. Some drum mags as well.

Then, if IntraTec comes back (and with some serious QC this time) I might just have to get a Tec-9 or three... same with Calicos. They just look so darn cool  :)

A couple of dozen AR-10 magazines (to go along with the AR-10 I'm saving for.)

Glock 20 Hi Cap Mags!!!!!!!!

Also, something with a bayonet lug, never can tell when you might have to gouge someone.

Probably an AR15 variant. But as far as things affected by the AWB, I'm more interested in what the new HK plant will be putting out, seeing as how they won't have to deal with either the AWB or the import ban... :D

I'm hoping that someone will put out a hi-capacity (30+ rounds at least) .22lr magazine for an AR-15 .22lr conversion.

The only thing I have that would be affected is an (well currently half an) AR-15. 30 rounders are not exactly hard to come by. If a flash hider can be added to the post-ban upper I'll be buying soon I may have that done. Everything else I own tops out at 10 round capacity or less so it's not particularly relevant.

Another AR, this time with a no-longer-evil collapsible stock, a no-longer-evil flash suppressor, a no-longer evil bayonet lug, and lots of no-longer-evil standard capacity magazines. :)

Must say I am getting an AR bug...but the ones I am looking at have a fixed stock and I do not need a bayonet lug(I mean, that's what .45 auto's are for!)...so I'd be happy with a post ban.
But I do like the folding stocks....a SIG 550 would be a very interesting rifle to own!
Maybe HK would come out with a USC using UMP mags and a folding stock with a real pistol grip? That would be fun!
I wonder if it will sunset though....if I recall it was an Executive Order from Daddy Bush(not a Law pushed through the other two governmental bodies) that started it, think Bush Jr gonna just let it slide into oblivion?
I hope so.....but I am not gonna hold my breath! Politicians have a tendency to urinate on your personal campfire....in the name of public safety!!

Ive had the AR bug for a while, while I can live without a bayonet lug, it would be nice to have a collapsable stock and a threaded barrel, so that the um, verticly challenged (she gets mad if i say shes short) could shoot it without a problem, and I could install my own muzzlebrakes. Not to mention the possibly slight drop in the price of normal capacity mags.

Huh?

The AWB is a law, passed by both houses and signed by Clinton.

Bush banned imports of some weapons by executive order, but it didnt have anything to do with the AWB.

Yes, actually it did.

The Bush Ban of '89 was an Executive order that allowed the ATF to crack down on imports. It was also proposed to the legislative branch as a model for a law. It took five years and a massacre or two to pass, but it eventually did.

You took the words right out of my mouth Tamara.

IIRC when the Bush import restrictions went into effect. National Public Radio touted it as a model for domestic restrictions that were being proposed at the legislative level.

It didn't help King George 41 get re-elected and 43 won't be either if he
effs with us on another AWB.

I agree that there was a slippery slope effect... my point was that there was no direct connection between GHWB's ban and Congress's AWB.

No, there was no "slippery slope." The AWB was, almost word-for-word, proposed by Bush I and Bill Bennett (and Bill Ruger). It just took a few years to get it through the bowels of Congress.

rayra,

you want Dean or Kerry or Clark, instead???

What? They might ban guns? I'd better vote GOP, 'cause they'll ban guns to stop the other guys from banning guns. :uhoh:

A nice bottle of bubbly to enjoy with the wife. Then I think I'll go buy a .51 caliber rifle.

Huh?...What's that you say?...We STILL have restrictions on our 2nd Ammendment rights you say?

Well, in that case, I guess I'll go back to pressuring our law makers to restore all of our rights and supporting those organizations that will help in the fight.

Even if by some bizarre miracle the ban sunsets and isn't simply renewed, or more likely, renewed and made worse (If you don't have an AR, I'd get one now and cuss about the Beltway Sniper(s).)

The only thing that would really make an impact would be the magazine restriction, but I'm not going to see any improvements in my guns for various reasons, and I'm not going to run out and buy a Glock just so I can buy a 15 round mag...sheesh.

All the cool guns were banned from Import, and that law will never go away. And Machine Guns have been hard to get for a long time, and that will just get worse.

In my opinion, I'd rather see some of the Paperwork (and other asinine rules and registration requirements) loosened up a bit rather than getting to have a Bayonette Attachment again. Sure would be nice to be able to go to a gunshow, or see a gun while on vacation, and be able to both Purchase and Keep It right then...

Oh well, back to writting my congress critters to try and at least stem the tide of having fingerprint scanners on my 2 shot only .10 caliber non-transferable air gun....sigh.

Or, what if it sunsets, and then 1 week later due to negotiations and lack of resolve, a new bill is passed. Maybe same old one. How much would factories have been able to make in the one week hole? Would you be able to retrofit your post ban guns in the week and keep them that way? Are you gonna be able to buy that day?

Tamara, you may be right, but I dont specifically recall GHWB paving the way for the AWB.

Certainly he was no friend of the Second Amendment... Hopefully Jr will think twice about it.
