im loadiing 3.9g of universal under a cast lee scw 158g bullet and while setting up my dies accidently loaded 4 between 1.460 and 1.470 and the reccomended min OAL is 1.475. i just used the last lube grove as a crimp cannalure but apparently i had to back out to the second to last lube groove to get the length right, will this be a problem, min load is 3.5 and max is 4.5 so im a little less halfway between them:confused:

Is that one of those Lee multi-groove tumblelube bullets? I don't know their recommendations about crimping, but OAL in a revolver is not a big thing as long as the bullet does not stick out the front of the cylinder.

I use conventional bullets with a proper crimp groove, crimp in the groove and go. I don't even know what the OAL is.

min OAL is not as critical in a long case of a revolver cartridge, as it is with short low volume cases of auto cartridges.

Since your not near the max listed, I think you'll fine.
But I'd be more inclined working up and seating to the crimp groove, having the lube grooves fully within the case mouth.

yes this is the tumble lube lee style, there is no crimp grove in particular though, just lots of small lube ribs

Run 'em. While I don't advocate sloppy loading practices, you're not loading match rifle ammo or hunting stuff here. For plinking, you'll be just fine. Just watch for lube build-up in the seater die. A q-tip and alcohol should keep it cleaned out nicely.

I have the same TL158gr SWC Lee mould, I seat them to the end of the bearing surface, flush with the case mouth. That is with target loads in 357mag, though.
