Im impressed so far with it, but have not shot it yet. I just got it home and did a pretty through cleaning and it is a little more moving parts than my mossburg 590A1, but I do like it. Just wondering what is the best modifications should be made if any, and in terms of reliable ammo for hd but primarily three gun if i ever get the chance. Well here are some pictures not very good quality but it gets the point across as well as my preliminary ammo choices.

A good start with a good shotgun.
In your shoes, I'd run a few boxes of bird loads through it just to get things worn in a bit.
Do hit the patterning board and use different ammo, checking spread.

I wonder how Remington got the 1100 to reliably cycle with an 18.5" barrel. I saw these recently and wanted to pull one apart and look at the barrel port. It does say 2 3/4" shells of course.

I say leave it as is. Here's my 1187-Police (essentially the same) and I love it:

The gas ports are bigger. I checked one and I think they were a #44 drill, but don't trust my memory 100% on that.

recently had a post about my intro to semi auto shotguns and I have discovered a problem with my new shotgun Remington 1100, I brought it home all excited because this is one of the last firearms I will buy before I go back downrange this summer(Iraq) opened the manual and disassembled the 1100 per manual and began cleaning and lubing the shotgun as instructed so im all excited loaded a couple rounds and then manually unloaded them,I see that the feed latch button is rather low hanging and kinda loose, but still functions, hurt and rather disappointed I ready so send it to Remington for them to fix it but I have a feeling it wont get back to me before I deploy so kinda nervous. Well here is the picture

I'm DYING to know what the gas port size is on the gun. I'll send you the drill bits in the mail to gauge the holes just so I can know.
